(flail) HOMG WINCON YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
Not that I'm excited or anything.
Here's my flight schedule, suitably edited for anonymity.
THU 8 OCT
Departs: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx at 06:59 PM
Arrives: Denver International Airport DEN at 11:10 PM 8 OCT
SUN 11 OCT
Departs: Denver International Airport DEN at 11:40 AM
Arrives: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx at 09:10 PM 11 OCT
In other words, I'm arriving in Denver at dork o'clock, and getting back home at almost dork o'clock. With work on Monday, hooboy. Hopefully, I'll be sober-ish by the time I have to be on the plane. And clothed. ( I feel targeted by the WinCon Rules post lol. D: ) We'll see how Tattoo goes. I want, but I have very limited time, so we'll see.
I'm planning to try and get some writing done on the plane, or what else are laptops for? Here's hoping I'll actually be beyond the rough draft stage of one of my Halloween fics. *sigh* Ultimates!Halloween is looking more NaNoWriMo (not that I'm insane enough to attempt NaNo with my record of writing here) than one-shot, so it's back-burner but likely to be completed just because I think that Tony could be so much fun. ¬-¬;; I like Ults Tony. (squishes him) I also got a genius idea for girl!Cap costume. I'm going to butcher some white tights, so that girl!Cap does not have completely bare arms. It'll also go well with the white tights I'm planning on wearing on the legs. I also found a pair of omg so much want boots (except in white—I have enough black knee-high boots lol), but I'm going to wait until I have costume & boot covers in hand before I purchase, to make sure it works.

Date: 2009-10-05 05:34 pm (UTC)I, personally, would gleefully devour Halloween type fic in the middle of July, so getting it in November won't be any bother. And as I'm enamored with posts about your writing process/character concepts/etc, any sort of daily update would feel rather like a gift.
Also: Have fun at con! (I think I’m going to have to check out a Supernatural con one of these years.)
IHU LJ Polls
Date: 2009-10-05 05:49 pm (UTC)Well, writing causes me an excess of torment lol. (opens vein; bleeds onto page) Writers are inherently masochistic, you know. Though I do have occasional evidence that I work faster (if not necessarily better) under a deadline. Beta-work would probably only come post-fic; pre-fic editing on a deadline would make this Faery cry tears of pain.
LOL I adore Halloweeny themes; I just normally don't play with them because they're done so often. Vampire fic has become cliché. :( I do sometimes worry that I seem a little self-absorbed, or that people get sick of seeing my flailing. "Here, more writing! (SHOVES)" On the other hand... that's what defriending is for? And I do have a series of filters that I use whenever I think I'm being too flaily on a particular topic. (Marvel is the latest *g* But they're also the people who actually reply to things, so I feel less guilty.)
♥ YOU SHOULD. YOU TOTALLY SHOULD. WinCon is like... my one con a year—the closest I get to a vacation. So I fully intend to spend most of it having fun, with the rest of it possibly passed out across someone's lap.
Re: IHU LJ Polls
Date: 2009-10-05 09:08 pm (UTC)Yes, true. *nods* Just do please let me know if and when I might be able to help in any way.
But, see, the thing that you're forgeting is that while Halloween themed fics may be done rather often, they're so rarely done well. Bad vampire fic has become cliché. Good vampire fic, however, might possibly still be counted with the fingers of both hands. Well, if you've even come across as self-absorbed you've hide it amazingly well because I've never noticed. At all. And yes, exactly, that's what defriending is for. When someone starts posting in a direction you don't like, you get the right to just stop reading.
I've wanted to try going to either a Supernatural con (is WinCon the only one? I don't even know) or a comic con for the past few years, but I don't want to have to give up Otakon to do so. If money permitted, however, I'd definitely like to see if I can make something work out for next fall, especially if I can get my classes limited to just three days of the week again. (What's WinCon like? Give me a rundown of how a weekend goes.)
Re: IHU LJ Polls
Date: 2009-10-06 03:21 am (UTC)(blush) You're assuming that I'm going to do them well, which is flattering but not likely. I try to maintain an open friending policy. I would rather have a small flist of people that I know than a big one with too many to follow.
The only SPN con I know of is WinCon. It's relatively cheap IMO--this year 100 on a con ticket, 100 on the hotel (split three ways with friends) and 300+ on plane tickets because this city sucks for airports. It's by-fans, for-fans, which basically means it's a slumber party with panels. This year, we have WinProm, which is totally just an excuse to dress up and get totally smashed. Every night, there's the RoadHouse, where there is liquor provided. Also, there is our annual Tin Hat Panel, wherein we do dressy things and strut our J2 stuff in tinfoil headgear. I don't really attend most of the panels myself--I'm there for people. So last year (my first first), I mostly spent it hanging out with people I don't see the rest of the year, hugging military personnel, being very drunk, sinking karaoke, getting OMGTATTOO and making out with people who would later be on my flist.
All in all, IT'S AWESOME.
Re: IHU LJ Polls
Date: 2009-10-11 03:07 am (UTC)Hmmm, yes, that does seem relatively cheap. And I have to say that I'm definitely drawn to the idea of a con where everyone likes the fandom I do. And the liquor. So, maybe I may need to look into WinCon for next year, assuming that they have it.
Re: IHU LJ Polls
Date: 2009-10-12 04:46 pm (UTC)OFFICIAL WORD. WinCon shall continue next year, but they want to make it multi-fandom with an SPN core. Gods know how that will work out, except maybe SPN people will be dragging along others who go "NO NO I don't like that show".
The liquor will continue. One way or the other. >.> (may or may not have spent the entire weekend drunk)
Re: IHU LJ Polls
Date: 2009-10-20 12:40 am (UTC)As much as I did like the idea of going to a single fandom con, I think I might, just might, be able to enjoy a con where I'm forced to talk about, say, Supernatural and the Marvel universe. (Is Supernatural coming back for a sixth season? Maybe they want to make sure they have the numbers to keep the con going even after the show ends?)
Again, I feel as if I've possibly been missing something for having not spent most of my cons drinking.
Re: IHU LJ Polls
Date: 2009-10-20 04:06 pm (UTC)I know that
They have. They really have. Drunken Fangirl Slumberparties are THE BEST.
Re: IHU LJ Polls
Date: 2009-10-26 03:23 am (UTC)So, then, I have a little less than a year to think about this and try to do the save enough money and find roommates bit then, yes?

Re: IHU LJ Polls
Date: 2009-11-03 03:54 am (UTC)It probaly would, yes. Especially as I'm fairly sure I'd want to room with peoples I know. Unfortunately, I don't have many real life fan friends. Hmmmm. *will think on this*
Re: IHU LJ Polls
Date: 2009-11-03 03:48 pm (UTC)90% of the people I room with, I only met online. >.> I literally only know two of them rl. So don't be shy! And recruit people!
Re: IHU LJ Polls
Date: 2009-11-04 01:42 am (UTC)Oops, sorry, no, something go left out of my reply. I've no problem with rooming with people I know from online, because it's still knowing (and is what I did at my first few cons), but most of my online people aren't SPN people and I don't have any rl SPN people.
Re: IHU LJ Polls
Date: 2009-11-04 04:10 am (UTC)Aah, well, then, you must meet peoples. The only ones I know are in Chat. Which I've been neglecting HORRIBLY. D: But they is awesomes. If worse comes to worse, we shall simply drag you along with us.
ETA: EEP Double post! Reply here!
