Let's Play Pretend!
Apr. 15th, 2010 09:48 amI just realized that I missed my Marvel fandom birthday! D: So, in light of that, let's all just pretend that it's April 6 2010, 11:04 AM, which is exactly one year from the moment that Velithya contaminated me with her comic book cooties.
Happybelated birthday me! :D
A look back over my last year in this fandom. I have:
Happy
A look back over my last year in this fandom. I have:
- made a bingo card
- written a ridiculous amount of fic (including my longest ever)
- met amazing people
- cosplayed in a ridiculously short skirt (better pictures will come when I reprise the costume on May 7)
- gotten not only a gmail at fandom prompting but also a DW
- developed a strangely specific list of 1940s trivia
- (poorly) spoofed a magazine
- am still determined to get this tattoo
- have been gifted with incredible fanart (a complete and utter first in my fandom life)
- attempted (and failed) to cover Reborn for the sake of LCS!fail
- enjoyed myself by being ridiculously spammy for Halloween
- secretly died during NaNoWriMo and continued to write from beyond the grave
- and received my first flame (locked post)
... Wow. I didn't think I'd been that active. :o I honestly don't think I was so all over the place in any other fandom. And that list doesn't even cover meta, kerfuffles, discussions, the three months I spent mainlining fics... Needless to say, I think it rocks. :D I love you people. (hugs everyone)
To pretend like I actually managed anything in poetry month, here's one I grew up with. It's was originally written about Texas and adapted for Arizona. The author is a mystery, but I grew up seeing it on the wall in my Grandma's office, and always thought it was both hilarious and true. This is usually found with lists of things like "you know you're in Arizona if driving with oven mitts seems like genius".

Aaaaand, finally, I... erm. May have flash-fic'd. Just a teeny bit. D: And it's not Marvel. It's actually not even for a movie. It's for a one-minute trailer from a fake movie. Has anyone seen Tropic Thunder? No? Good, me neither. All you need to know is that it's the fake!trailer for the fake!movie Satan's Alley, which appears in Tropic Thunder. I just got hooked through fandom!secrets, and failed miserably to keep it to myself. Yes, there is a community (omalley_doyle). Yes, that is RDJ-as-Kirk-Lazarus-as-a-gay-monk and Toby Maguire-as-Toby-Maguire-as-a-gay-monk. Yes, I'm a geek. *g*
