Digital Eclipse

(facepalm) I love my Aunt. I just have to keep repeating that until the urge to kill fades.

Yesterday we had the lovely, lovely experience of a kitchen disaster. Well, I say we when I mean they. I was at work, but long story short, something got left on the stove. Lots and lots of smoke Was produced. It still reeked of burnt marshmallows when I got home. Being logical people, my Aunt and Grandpa opened all the doors and windows. Being imperfect people, they opened the screen doors too.

We have roughly 12 pets. 11 of them are allowed outside. One of the cats is an unspayed female with... well, if she were human I'd think agoraphobia. She flips out whenever she gets outside; has since she was a kitten. I'm hoping this was my saving grace, because she was outside until 1 AM yesterday because no one thought to tell me that she bloody well got out. The smoke must have driven her out, because normally she won't even think about it, and since it's not weird for her to find a hidey-hole to nap in all afternoon I didn't notice she was missing until bedtime. I found her cowering under the house, covered in dirt and mewling pitifully. (cuddles Duzie) Normally, I'd say "well, I found her, no harm done, freakout over" except she's been acting cuddly and mouthy lately, which usually means she's about to go into heat. Hopefully it's still early enough in her cycle that she didn't get knocked up, and hopefully she just spent 12 hours hiding under the porch away from the stray tomcats in our area...

But I just know that if it turns out that she's pregnant, I'm going to catch hell. *sigh* Because I can randomly shell out $100 to spay a cat who usually wouldn't go outside even if she had the choice.

Beyond that, today's the end of the Fall semester (omg I've been in this specific job for a year?! ALREADY?!), which mean I'm looking at two weeks with only dial up. D: Well, dial up or Burger King, which is honestly looking like a good alternative. Trouble is, everytime I use Burger King for internet access I gain weight lol. Maybe if I just buy a side salad...? But this also means that my updates will be less often. I guess it's just that my internet access isn't constant at home, so I tend to do other things when I'm online.

Maybe I should type the entry offline? I dunno. But my trusty Moony came with me to work today to get updated and shinied up using the available highspeed, so I'll suffer minimally as far as that goes. (Updating AVI or Windows using dial up is beyond painful.) But I will do my best to be online during the day! Because there's only so much cleaning/bathing dogs/baking/chopping wood I can do, right?

Omg I'm gonna diiiiiieeeeee....

All packages have been shipped. All gifts-which-will-be-given-on-Christmas have been bought and wrapped. Cards sent. Tree up. I'm ahead of the game for the first year ever and completely at a loss because of it. D: So very weird.

I hate updating over the weekend. It wastes precious Internet time. SORRY. D:

Thanksgiving was made of win. :D I cooked and nothing exploded! The turkey was not only edible but actually good! And there was a significant lack of nagging over "cook it this way"! Except over the carrots, but I still say that carrots in cornbread stuffing is an Abomination Unto Nuggan.

Writing got done! Yay! @.@ With luck, patience and hope, more writing will get done. I failed MiniNaNo so hard I'm a WB-style pancake person. I need sleep so much. Or possibly just an injection of happy. :\ Christmas always sucks a bit, doesn't it? (Dad. Stop telling me to come visit. Really. Even if I could afford it, it's not happening. Yes, I'm petty. STFU. Love, me.)

I can't even remember what I started writing this post for. *sigh* Anyways. Christmas card post will be going up soon. And don't forget to vote on the flist present. That'll close around the 5th, I think.
