NaNo: Day 07

Argh. Today started off well, with the time change tricking my body into thinking that I'm being sensible and switching to a later schedule (HA), and then it deteriorated when I actually had to do work. D: I spent an hour and a half with one woman over three different phone calls, gah. RL always interferes with the important things. I ended up staying late to get up to 27k, and then working until 10:30 PM at home to finish. Yeesh. D:
Also, tonight I have to turn in the rough for my
polybigbang. EEP. D: (flails)
As far as writing goes, today wasn't easy, but it wasn't hard, so a draw isn't too bad. I had to work harder than I liked to reach my personal goal, but I did reach it, so huzzah. Figuring out how to fit little bits of important plot is is going to be hard, but that's for tomorrow. For numbers, I've now written 30,050 words, so I did 4,906 today. Not too shabby, and that's another 3 dailies.
For anyone who's interested, the pregnant cat just startled out of a deep sleep and is now clinging and fluffing my lap vigorously. D: I will update on this if it progresses.

"Oh, sweetie." One thin, warm hand reached across the table to touch her hand. Gail turned Stevie's over and laced their fingers, palm to palm. Her nails had just a little bit of dirt under them, maybe from the inside of her gardening gloves, but they were manicured and perfect. Next to Stevie's short, blunt ones, they were even prettier than usual. "Honey, we've talked about this. You need to move on."
I don't want to move on. The words hung out on the tip of Stevie's tongue, but there was no point in saying them. They both knew, and they knew that the chance for it had passed by. "So you think I should go to dinner with him?" she asked in a small voice.
Something didn't sit right about that. Tony had been incredibly disgusted that his brother didn't even drink on occasion—his body is a temple, Tony had said. Probably to Cthulu. That wasn't the sort of thing that was really debatable.
But they both said it had been years. Maybe Gregory had loosened up a little. "Just one glass," Stevie finally agreed, putting the matter to rest. "Your brother already did me in once for this year. I'd rather not see if I can survive it twice."
Not only was Princess the most adorable thing Stevie had ever seen, she was also more highly bred than a hilltop bakery. Stevie had given up reading her pedigree after the first two pages. The long list of ridiculous names didn't mean a thing to her, but she suspected that anyone who followed that sort of thing would have been green with envy. If stupid names were anything to judge by, her kitten was close to the top of the heap and probably expected to be treated like it.
Stevie didn't have any plans to disappoint.
