This is quick, because I need to get to bed early tonight. Tomorrow is Harry Potter, so my usual marginal hours will be a lot more marginal.;; Oi.

Anyway, today's word count is officially Weird. About half way through the scene I was working on, Tony and Jan started having a conversation that 1) needed to happen about 30k ago in order to explain certain Peppery Things and 2) worked really well to replace one of those pesky scenes that Hank was in. So I spent some time making that fit and removing the other scene. The downside? The replacement scene was 1,000 words less than the old scene. For a while, I was running negative numbers. x-X I actually wrote about 4,000 words today, but between cutting and editing, my total is only 54,089, which is only 2,919 words. Ah, well. The part that I worked on is better for it.

Wanda and Thor stayed back, locking the door behind him. The walls seemed to bend inward, shrinking the room around him. A light sweat broke out on Tony's skin, but he resisted the urge to turn around and demand that they open it again. If Steve woke up, there was too much damage that he could do with the equipment in the lab. It was too big of a risk.

It was like being trapped at the bottom of the Pacific all over again. Water pressing down on him, making every move almost impossible. Mud rising up step by step. All but the vital functions turned off, to conserve power. The same recycled air filling his lungs, choking him as the air supply started to run out.

Step. Pause. Broken bones ache. Rest. Step. Cold. Pause. Spit out blood. Rest. Gasp. Feel the suit sinking into the mud. Colder. Hear the warning for the oxygen tanks. Step.

He couldn't breathe.

In my book fixing a faulty scene is progress. Maybe even better than going on adding words that you'll end up editing the hell out anyway.

I Tony claustrophobic from when he faked his death before he was turned or is that refering to another incident? Either way poor guy.

See, in my view you should be logging the words written as your total, because that's what NaNo is pushing for. Revision will cut a lot, yes, but it'll also add even more, and I don't think you should have to stress about a step that you've not even reached yet! Besides, you've made a breakthrough with the Tony and Jan scene, and that's far more important than a wordcount. BAH NUMBERS! LOL

I love it when the character or at least the muse character wants to help.

Right now The Tony and Steve living in my head are pretty silent. Why did I think I could write flirting, why?
