tsukinofaerii: Can't Think Without Coffee (Coffee)
Color me plastered across my desk. (It's sort of a greeny-purple color; like octarine.) I'm so tired! D: I think I may have to blame PMS. I hate my uterus. *sigh*

Random: Never, ever assume that someone understands the purpose of the tool they're asking how to use. ._.;

Anywhoo, I got sucked into tvTropes yesterday (no link, because I'm feeling kind) and discovered the concept of Green Our Vaccines. I admit it, I laughed. >>; On the face of it, it seems friendly enough. Make vaccines safer, yes? Good thing. But it seems to me that they really want to end vaccination totally, which boggles me. There's a reason children had a very low chance of attaining adulthood historically. Disease took a large number of them. We have an edge now, with our understanding of sanitary needs and the like, but people still die. (Thank you, indoor plumbing.) I don't vaccinate personally, but that's more because I'd rather catch the flu than get stuck with a needle—I'm lucky enough to be young and healthy, so influenza isn't likely to kill me. Serious illnesses, like the measles? You bet I'd suck it up and vaccinate. I suppose I'm just surprised that a (seemingly) large number of people are ready to trust their own likely under-educated (in this subject) judgment against that of a large community of specialists. :x

I also read the Chick Tract entry. Ah, the laughter. Ah, the horror. (Christianity cures vampirism, whut?) And Islam is a Catholic conspiracy, aparently. Who knew? I should ask Marlyn (a co-worker) about that, since she's Catholic; she should get the reference too, since she laughs at the tracts whenever someone brings one in. Naima too—she's Muslim, and just as easily amused. (Wow, no wonder they get along so well!)

It's a form of masochism, I suppose—especially since I know a few people who actually buy into that. (Note: Comment not aimed at general Christianity, but at the Jack Chick version of Christianity. No disrespect meant.)

Argh, tl;dr, tvTropes has made me overthink again lol.

Pretty soon, Hetalia may do the same. D: Why do I want England colonial-era mpreg? DDDDDDD: (But omg baby America would be so adorable...)

ETA: Nooooooo. I won free of Myth Busters, only to be sucked in again. D: This time to the ExcelSaga page.
With her partner Hyatt (a frail, beautiful alien girl given to bouts of coughing up horribly poisonous blood and frequent, brief attacks of death) and their dog/backup meal source Menchi, Excel blasts her way though a series of adventures with gleeful incompetence and a hysterically rapidfire stream of dialogue that makes, at best, only minimal sense.
