Sekrit: I had a birthday yesterday! Okay, not so secret, because it's listed openly, but I usually don't bandy it around loudly. (handwave) People forget, or are thoughtless, or whatever, and it's just easier to keep it to myself than deal with it. They didn't know because I never told them, right? So it's not personal! Still loved, let the shiny continue. (Yes, it's a negative view of things, but it works for me.) This does not work so well with my family, but TBH, I'm used to my family spacing on personal issues. (Yes, Emma, I'm still sixteen. Ignore the credit card/car/job/etc. It's all in your head.)

That being said, yesterday was very Twilight Zone.

I got IMs. I got Tweets. I got calls and text messages and LJ posts. People came by my office with food and haircare products. There is a menu for a proposed birthday dinner on my dry erase board at home, scheduled for Sunday. Not only is there a menu, but it includes food I'll eat. Mary asked what sort of gift I want. valtyr and stormseye gave me shiny shiny wonderful and amazing art! Vampire Tony! Girl Steve! LOVE! My father not only dodged the old "it's your moral and biological imperative as a woman to reproduce, ho ho ho" argument that looms whenever he's babysitting my nephews, but he actually ended the phone call after a reasonable time. This is somewhat akin in likelihood to shooting an airborne dragon in the voonerables while balancing on one foot, blindfolded and using a crooked arrow when no one has said, 'It's a one in a million shot, but it just might work.'

(I said Christo, but did not realize that the flinch wouldn't be visible over the phone. Mom has agreed to spike his coffee with holy water and report the results. BTW, clex_monkie89, Mom says he's wearing his silver wedding band, so it's not a shifter. IANMTU.)

All in all, it was an awesome birthday. :D Thank you and love to everyone who popped in to give me birthday wishes. ♥ I'm still not advertising it next year, for the record.

No writing was done yesterday, but that was deliberate, so I don't count it as a failure to write. Updates in that regard:

Comics Bang is at 5k, and I have made some pretty serious changes to the entire amnesia premise. savemoony was kind enough to let me babble.;; It's going to be... well, weird to write, but fun in that "seeing what I can do with text" sort of way. Still going to try for light-heartedness, or as close as I can get in a post-Dark Reign timeline, but the meta levels are going to be so fun to write. I have, however, belatedly realized that certain writing choices means I'm going to be writing sex in first person present tense while using a wonky meta-licious writing system. I'll be hiding under my bed now.

AU Big Bang is at 10k (you see what I did there?), and I'm having a ball. Even though there's a lot of places it's not going to go, girl!Steve is just fun. The working subtitle is "OHNOEZ, NAZI DUCKIES ATTACK". *g* Her opinion of Tony makes me giggle, and she punched out a car radio that was playing heavy metal because she couldn't figure out how to shut it up in a hurry. This is not to say that it's all cracky fluff and lols. I am still battling Gail (omg, developing Steve/Gail ship is so painful), and plot is messy, and Steve is very D: about everything. It has at least another 10k to go, I think.
