tsukinofaerii: Can't Think Without Coffee (Coffee)

Not that I've ever mentioned this in LJ, but I finally figured out why my lower back is aching lately! It's bloody cold in my office, and my back is clenching up in protest. It does that same thing in winter. I didn't notice until my teeth started chattering yesterday! It only hurts when I'm at work and for about four hours after—less if I take a super hot shower or bath. That should have been the first give-away. The whole building is on one set of controls, so I can't exactly adjust the temperature. Anyways, I'll try to dress warmer for work and maybe that'll help.

I've been weirdly tired lately. Normally I sleep from about 1AM - 6AM Monday through Friday, but lately I've been wanting to nap. I hope I'm not coming down with a cold. My lack of sick days is the reason I'm getting WinCon!Friday off!

SPN Fans! I should mention that the fic I posted yesterday has a cameo. (pokes them) You may remember it from me whining in chat last summer. Alas, I had to cut a ton of the original scene, but I may post it as an aside later. IDK, I'll see.

Finally, before I get to the Crazy Dream Wherein I Prove My Dorkhood, I had a thought. Dr. Strange (616-verse) is a magical neurosurgeon. Tony Stark (1610-verse) has an inoperable brain tumor. Clearly, this needs to be dealt with. (posts a vaguely sort of almost Anon request to the Gen Meme)\

To wrap up this morning... Crazy dreams! Well, humiliating dreams, actually. o.O I dreamed that I ran into RDJ at a convention--I think ComiCon, which is odd since I've never been. Literally ran into him, actually. I just sort of barreled into his chest in a hallway somewhere. Papers flew everywhere and of course I started apologizing before I even looked up because that's what you do when you run into people. The humiliation started after I realized who's chest I'd left a forehead-shaped bruise on. Cue the babbling. And I mean babbling. I think I rambled for like.... 15 minutes dream time. There were a lot of "omg I'm sorry" and "omg RDJ" and one "I swore that if I met someone famous I wouldn't act like an idiot but now I'm acting like an idiot and treating you like a sex object and DID I JUST SAY THAT OUT LOUD". He just sort of slowly backed away and stared at me like I might be rabid. Who knows, maybe I was.

Aren't dreams of sexy famous people supposed to include acting like some sort of charming goddess and being swept off your feet? WTF self?

I actually had a thought in the same vein, in that it might be interesting to see 1610!Tony and 616!Wade Wilson (pre Weapon-X, pre Deadpool) were to meet and talk about having inoperable cancer. Except that by 'talk about having inoperable cancer' I meant 'get drunk and have sex to prove they aren't yet dead', so mine was posted to the kink_meme.

Hmmm, perhaps babbling in a dream means that you'll be guaranteed suave, controlled conversation should such an encounter happen in reality?

You're the one who made the request! Ha!

I'd put it one the kink meme, but then the focus would be 90 degrees against what I actually want ("Tumor-free Tony" rather than "Tony pays to be Tumor-free using his smexy smexy body"), so Gen it is,e even though it's a lot less likely to be answered there.

If I had any hope of ever meeting him, I would feel reassured lol. As it is, admiring from afar is the safest route.

Yup, guilty. (I dithered for a bit over doing it, but finally realized that my request was actually tame compaired to most and, well, why not?)

*nods* The gen meme has so much less traffic than the kink, which is sad because *gasp* there are some things that work better without porn.

I have a friend who handles guest relations for an anime con in Pittsburg. I worked for her a few years ago, so I got to spend a whole week around a group of voice actors, who, tehcnically (I think) are famous people. I think (I hope) that I behaved like a normal, sane type person around them. However I'm fully worried that I'd loose my shit and become a crazy fanperson around someone of RDJ's sort of famous. So admiring worshipping from afar is the option I'll stick with as well.

Marvel fandom (from what I've seen) is pretty tame. :o Maybe because it might be a big fandom, but there don't seem to be a whole lot of people online pulling for it.

*GASP* LIES! All things need porn!

I think VAs are a little different, since they're not "the face", really. In anime fandom they're huge, but I still know a lot of anime fans couldn't name more than a few, whereas with something like Iron Man (or Supernatural) you're pretty hard-pressed not to recognize the "face". Still, afar is definitely the option least likely to result in a restraining order.

*blinks* That's... really true. Only a very small percent of those who read comics seem to be the fic writing sort. (And, without knowing any figures, I'd guess that comic readers are still a male majority, who might not be exactly a fan of the slash.)

No, Madame. Most things need porn. Occasionally, however, one might feel the need for fannish doings of the fluff persuasion, in which kissing and cuddling reduce one to an over sugared puddle, with nary a penis to be found. True facts.

*nods* And they were also American VAs, which is not a bad thing at all, but I'm a bit of a snob for subtitles with the original VAs. (So while is was a bit of a kick to meet Aaron Dismuke [Edward Elric on Fullmetal Alchemist], I wouldn't have, say, waited in line for almost four hours to get his autograph like I did with Yamaguchi Kappei at Otakon last year.) But, yes, I definitely concede that there’s a different freak out potential involved in seeing than in hearing.

(Also, in regards to a few earlier posts: I’m not sure that Jensen Ackles would be Cap for me, but OMG would I love to see him as Hawkeye.)

I think that there's a fundamental difference between the way men and women geek out. I have very little idea how men do it, but they don't seem to write fanfic much. Since women comics fans are a rare breed, that would explain why we have so small a fanfic community.

Just because the porn happens off screen doesn't mean it doesn't happen! (is perfectly capable of inserting porn into the most gen of gen using HER BRAIN)

I totally agree that Jensen wouldn't make an ideal Cap character-wise or looks-wise, but I sort of want him for the fandom he'll bring. All the crack of SPN in Avengers? DO WANT. Making him Hawkeye would be a good compromise though. (eyes him)

I only have one guy friend who I know knows what fandom is. He has an LJ and does occasionally read fanfic if it’s written by a friend or his fiancé (he betas her slash fics sometimes) and I think that he's actually written a few fics, for her for gifts. His major form of geeking out seems to be doing RPG stuff in real life. Other than him, I'm at a loss as to how guys do fanish stuff (if guys do fanish stuff).

*nods* I'll take this. *is more than amused at porn being everywhere, whether one can see it or not*

Oh, yeah. It would be most amazing to have Cap, or at least one of the other Avengers (and could we get a cast list, please?) be someone with a large enough pre-existing fanbase to give the fandom a major shot in the arm. (SPN level crack in Avengers would be so much win.)

I used to have a guy friend in fandom, but then he became a boyfriend and then he became gay (to this day I'm proud of that lol), so I don't think he counts. I trained him up right. (pats the ex)

They did a really good job with RDJ as Tony--well enough known to have proven his talent, unknown enough that he didn't drag anything along with him. That's probably the only risk in using Jensen in the Marvel franchise; I worry about how many people are only ever going to see Dean. :\

*very amused*

*nods* I'd say it's probably more a certainty than a risk, because I'm sure there would be people going to see Dean in the Avengers movie rather than Jensen. Though being that their money is just as good as anyone elses, Marvel may or may not be bothered by this.

I think that as long as Jensen's acting is as good as we all know it can be, he'll be able to make the Dean!fans into Clint!fans. And, like you said, money is money, right? As long as it's a box office hit, Marvel will do what works.
