Edited because posting many times in one day seems odd, when I don't post much in general.

Life is... Well, life is. That's the important part lol. I'm currently avoiding calling the IRS. It's not anything bad. I just need to get my AGI (they expect me to remember last year's random five digits to file online? I don't even remember needing random five digits last year!) and am lazy. Also afraid of red tape. It's just one step away from being a red thread. ohnoes.

I'm feeling weird today. Does it show?

Someone from high school tracked me down. I'm debating how to respond. She was a friend, righty-o, but it's been years. (clex_monkie89 knows her, but I shall give only one clue. Well, okay, two, since I'm using gendered pronouns. And it's not really a clue so much as a giant bloody give-away. The clue is: I still own majority stock in her soul.)

What is it with people tracking me down? I am not that lovable, srsly gais. Not that I object to people who want to spend their lives worshiping at my feet (dark chocolate is always an appropriate offering, just FYI), but getting e-mails from people who knew me when I barely knew myself years after the fact is mildly creepy.

I just got sucked into TV Tropes while looking for a link reference. Heeeellllp meeeeeeeeee.....

AHEM. In a few weeks, I'll be Christmas Cake. I'm oddly okay with this, which surprises me. If you'd asked me ten years ago, the answer would have been very different. Maybe I've matured. (pause for gasps of shock and denial) It was bound to happen eventually. If you click the link, the reference that always gets me is the Lucky Star reference. "You are wanted!" I don't know why, but that seems very sweet.

Huh. I never heard that. I'll be Christmas Cake this weekend then! I . . . am not at all bothered by this. I feel like our culture has changed a lot to the point where it's not at all unusual to be single even into your thirties. And personally I can't imagine settling down right now. Christmas Cake rocks!

It says something that the trope came from Japan. Semi-japanophile that I am, it saddens me, but every culture has its unique obstacles to progress. Japan just has sexism among theirs. *sigh*

I wish I'd thought to buy a Christmas Cake post-Christmas this year! That would have been awesome!

Actually, my Japanese teacher in college (who was actually Japanese, and if I had to guess, around 25 herself :p) explained it to us by saying that up until Christmas, cakes were expensive; on Christmas day, they went fast; on the 26th, they were half off; and after that, no one wanted them. So according to her, you still have one more year at a 50/50 shot :)
