Wincon Roundup

I've already babbled about my awesome souvenir, so I'll be quiet about that. :D But a quick summary of WinCon and its aftermath.
Day Zero: Lost Camera. Retrieved a Neko from a Greyhound. Got lots of hugs. (Thursday.)
Vampire Larsa does not like airplanes. That is all.
Nothing much happened on day Zero. We showed up (I started driving to Jacksonville for might flight around 0400/0430 GAH), got our room, ate & watched Season 4 episode 3 while simultaneously beginning the discovery that the hotel is woefully understaffed. Sometime in all this I "lost" my camera. It would show up later shoved into the depths of my bag. *sigh* There was alcohol. A Royal Raven that was a pretty blue color and burned the ability to taste off of my tongue, and then Chelsea's Pink Lemonade Martini. Yum. Then we all piled into one bed (8/9 of us I think) to watch episode 5, retrieved the Neko thanks to a very tipsy Stacy who let P-chan drive her car.
I am the favorite.
Day One: Yay gourmet food and tinhats! Also drunken karaoke. More hugs. (Friday.)
A trip to Whole Foods, which was expensive but very posh for a market. Also, I had a sandwich with cheese I can't pronounce that was delicious. Picked up things for tinhats. Hit up registration to watch episode 5 again (it's even more awesome the second time around) and scrambled to make hats before the RPS panel. Then we went to the RPS panel.
After that, Neko and I worked Roadhouse. Which was made of wincakes and shiny and omgalcohol. I started the evening with a nice and strong screwdriver (16 oz), continued with the rest of Neko's Purple Nurple (which we found out are supposed to be shots) that can be estimated at 8 oz. Then Neko and I got food at McDonalds and returned for karaoke, food and even more alcohol. Three or four more 8 oz glasses of whiskey and coke (with the coke as more of a coloring than anything else) and more songs than I can count later, Neko and I helped Stacy back to her room. She would later swear never to drink again. I would end up babbling drunkenly to people.
At least I didn't slut it up nearly as much as I might have had there not been awesome karaoke to keep me busy. Others were less occupied. Also?
thenyxie's husband proved himself made of awesome by taking lots of photos and even singing with us a bit. My breasts are somewhere on his camera. Isn't that win?
Day Two: Surfing around online mostly. False start on Dragon Moon. The Show Of Support For Military People Began. (Saturday.)
This one was pretty tame, and deliberately so. Other than a trip to the tattoo place (YAY BRYN), I pretty much lounged around and did nothing. The tattoo place didn't pan out, because they'd just taken a walk-in for a full sleeve. OUCH. Bad timing.
The high point was that military people started checking into our hotel. They were back from Iraq, and still looking very sexy in their uniforms. The first two I saw on our way out to the parlor. We were next to a giant set of windows and I saw them walking across the parking lot. This being me, I ran outside and hugged them. Then I continued hugging all the ones I came across.
No drinking that night, for sake of appointment the next day.

Day Three: Saying goodbyes and a real start on Dragon Moon. Cut Neko's hair. More hugs! (Sunday.)
Passed out a lot of goodbye hugs, but we had a noon appointment! That went amazingly super-dooper well, and I'll shut up again. :D
After that, I needed food, so we dragged everyone to Ruby Tuesday's for a last group meal. There were cheesy fries, steak and ribs. Also dumplings. Lots and lots of love. Then we returned back (after showing off :D) and I did Neko's hair. It looked great, even if I do say so myself. I had to take off at least five inches of dead hair, but I tried to cut it to frame her face, and I gave her some really good shampoo and conditioner to help with the frizzies. (crosses fingers)
The day ended with a circle-geek. All of us sprawled in the lobby with our laptops, since the lobby had complimentary internet, and they wanted to charge us $10 per laptop per night for it upstairs. FAIL. More military personnel came in, and I greeted them as I've become accustomed to.

Day Four: More goodbyes, screw ups with the hotel and funding, screw ups with giving a Neko back to the Greyhound and the final hugs. (Monday.)
Day four... could have gone much better. I think almost everyone will agree to that. Many people split early morning. Neko was supposed to, but she missed her bus! D: I got a voicemail from Bryn about it, because she was the one driving Neko and they got lost on the way to Greyhound. Baltimore streets suck. x.X But my phone was charging (and thus off) because someone else had been using my charger all week!
But then as I'm getting around, I go down to check on the bill. We were $50 over what we should have had for money. I absorbed it (adding to my brokeness), but there was no way the remaining three would have been able to afford their last night in the room. (They ended up staying at a cheap motel. Still waiting to see if it charged by the hour, but the mirror on the wall suggests so.) Neko ended up catching a taxi to her rescheduled bus and is probably still on the road. x.X I hugged some more people, hugged more military people, and then hit the road for my plane.
There were more military people at the airport! Even two on my flight! My mission was clearly not yet complete. The flight went well, and I collected nine more military hugs! Then I got into Jacksonville and drove the three hours home. I ended up pulling in around 2200 to find out that my male cat (Set) had been missing since I'd left. (headdesk) He showed up again after I called for him a while, but next time he's getting locked in the house. I don't care if I have to buy them a kennel to keep him in.
Sometime during all of this, my flist exploded. I HAS PEOPLES NAO.
Final Note: Because my camera was AWOL over the whole trip, I am begging anyone who has pictures to share to let me know where I can find them. Please?

Date: 2008-10-21 05:46 pm (UTC)I think the miscalibration came because of the extra day (which was supposed to go on a second tally, but then we were so busy solving everyone's financial trouble that we forgot) and then a $10/day hotel tax that wasn't added it. It must have been a Maryland thing that none of us knew about. Very strange.
(HUGS BACK!)
