tsukinofaerii: Basch lives! Don't listen to Ondore's lies! (Basch lives)
Spring break next week! YAY. That's one of the definite benefits of working for a school. I'm guaranteed that week off, unless someone manages to break something in a truly fantastic manner. Even better, the weather's supposed to be nice (upper 70s and 80s, yes!) so I'm not going to be huddled down in a shivering little ball of misery. I might even start jogging again, or break out my saber and work on my moves. (Probably not. >.> Fencing practice always feels so pointless alone, even though it's great exercise.)

My mom's coming down from Arkansas for the break. That kind of makes it perfect. I haven't seen her in forever it seems (last Christmas, I think), so I'm really looking forward to spending time with her. We talk almost every morning, but it's not the same as a real live fact-to-face. Okay, so I won't have time to pound through FFXII (I'm in Balfonheim!), I won't be sleeping in until 2, and I definitely won't be online as much, but it's totally worth it. We're even planning a girl's day out. I (still!) have my tax returns to spend, we'll use part of that. (The rest, alas, is for bills.) We're going to go through my clothes and get rid of the old stuff, then go out shopping the next day.

It's going to be girlie and frivolous and I completely intend to enjoy spending money for once. How weird. (You all can stop laughing at me now! I mean it! ;~;) It's not even unnecessary, because I desperately need new work clothes. I've gotten down to cycling through the same few outfits because everything else either doesn't fit or is worn thin. After that, underthings (I hate how bras never fit my breasts right, but that's probably because of the bras I buy -.-*), a new purse (dear gods do I need a purse) and possibly shoes. Then casual wear (which I don't expect to need) and anything that's left over from my budget will be for splurge-spending.

I'm also going to sneak something for Mom into the bags. She doesn't get nice things nearly often enough.

In more fandom-y news, I've decided to start a policy of shaming myself. One of my major failings as a writer is that I prefer to consume rather than create. It's very difficult for me to make myself write everyday, especially in a story that's already rolling. Even moreso in stories that I suspect are going to have minimal interest to anyone else. (I'm looking at you, kitty-Sora!) So I've got a private post up on my LJ now with a mini calendar and my daily word count. The theory is that seeing my lack of progress in terms of a long-term trend might make me more inclined to take that extra hour a day. It did yesterday. :D 500 words is still better than 0, right/right? Right. And I'm at my LJ every day, practically speaking, so it'll be staring me right in the face.

Why yes, posting this is a way of putting off writing. How did you guess?
