More on Work
Jan. 15th, 2008 09:17 pmWell, my Boss went in for an appointment on Friday. She had some mystical pregnant-woman things done, fully expecting the baby to come. And then.... nothing. Well, not nothing. A false start, but no actual baby. So I'm not on my own yet. But having two people around right now seems kind of silly, because we're so incredibly lacking work. Of course, the moment she leaves, it'll go insane. That's just Murphy's Law, and we're braced for it. But right now everything's running smoothly. We actually spent some time looking up baby names and making fun of them today. Talia and Dante I can kind of understand (though naming a kid Dante is kind of morbid to me). Some of them, though...
I saw some really cool names today. Gage is a neat name. And then there's names like Ta'Quez, which look like someone played darts with the alphabet as a target. The sheer number of random capitals and hyphens/apostrophes is just scary. If you can find a name that looks/sounds good, go ahead, but random syllables just aren't the answer. Similar are normal names strung together wrongly, like Mary-Randolph. At least Valiereq can say his/her name is original. Mary-Randolph sounds (probably rightly) like they weren't sure if the kid was a boy or girl and decided to cover both angles.
This makes me kind of happy that my parents went the boring route. My name may not be "special", but at least I don't have to explain it very much.
