Jun. 28th, 2006 02:01 pmIt's come to my attention that, artistically speaking, I appear to be accomplishing quite a large amount of nothing lately. Few icons. No real art. No stories. I haven't even been participating in the occassional contest on ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
hogwartsishome. However, there's a reason for my aparent slacking. I'm writing a story! And not just any story. A monster-big story. At least, compared to what I usually put out. Put bluntly, it was first written by hand on paper and ended up being over a hundred pages after I put in some extra scenes. Now I'm typing the blasted thing, and it appears that it might end up topping out somewhere between sixty and eighty. Quite a few bits that I mooned over and petted are being tossed out, but all sorts of other bits have to be added in. And then it gets to be edited into something reasonable. And THEN I'm going to see about finding an honest-to-goodness beta reader. One who won't just pass it along as "oh that's great!", or vanish suddenly and without reason. The final question will be "Where do I post?", since there's no way I've worked on this monster since December and it's going to languish unseen here. It's going to be at least another couple of weeks before I'm done typing it and feel safe letting it set long enough to work on other projects. I know how my mind works, and if I let absolutely anything get me off course, the story will never be completed.
Yes, I know no one cares, but so what?
Anyways, such is the reason why I haven't been doing much. As a consolation prize, I'm posting an exerpt from my current project. Since no one reads this anyways besides Neko (who gets this stuff anyways), I can feel safe in that I'm not ruining the story for anyone.
