Vets and rants

Jace is coming home! \o/
In short, he was anemic. The vet claims fleas and I'm inclined to agree. He likes to crawl under the house and shed, which is precisely where the sand fleas lurk. Worse, our fleas laugh at our control methods, since it's 29 acres and we can only even attempt to keep 1 acre clear. He also had an elevated white blood cell count, so he's getting antibiotics for that. (A cold..? They didn't say.)
However, I had to have a long, involved argument with the vet about his condition. Dear Vet: What part of he's a special needs puppy did you not understand? I explained that he has some very specific physical issues, and when I tell you that "he always has trouble walking and has since he was a puppy, but we've been assured that he's not in pain" do not fucking give my dog pain medication because he's having trouble walking! Is he displaying signs of pain? No? Then WHY? You wouldn't do that to a human child, would you? "Oh, little Suzy can't balance properly. MORPHINE!" Similarly, he has difficulty with his vision. We know this. I told you this when I checked him in! You have a whole file of papers that I handed over explaining this. No, he does not need more (expensive) tests to make sure it's not something "else". Unless you can cite me something that's new and that no other vet has reassured me about, it's not a problem. Again, all of this was gone over.
I understand that you're not my usual vet, because my usual vet would cost me far more than is currently in my checking account. I also understand that Jace is a pretty unique case in many ways, and you have a lot of dogs to care for. This is why I provided you so much information. We talked about it. I gave you print outs and vet records. He's not on any medication. We do physical therapy. We give him saline eye drops to keep his eyes from drying out. We make sure he's not in pain. He eats adequately (more than adequately). Going over all of this in that passive aggressive, condescending Make the Owner Feel Like A Bad Parent tone is not going to make me agree with you, RE: unnecessary meds.
Furthermore, nice try calling my aunt to give you permission to dose him up. Really, very classy. All of those numbers are my numbers, lady, and he's my dog. I don't even know where you got my aunt's name, because it sure wasn't on the paperwork.
Give me my dog. You already have my money. Just make my dog better, give him back, and believe me, you won't see me again.
TL;DR, my dogs are my children, and you do not fuck with my children.
ETA: Vet called back and tried to prescribe it again. KSA;FHDKLJHLADFHJKHEW'HFDSJKDSJK STOP THAT. Worse, this time they couldn't even tell me why, which I suspect translates as "we know you'll refuse". There is also a mystery Third Medication which no one seems to be able to tell me what it's for, never mind why I should pay $100 for it.
