Another "I LIVE DON'T LEAVE ME ALOOOOOOOONE" post lol. I have no idea where my will to babble went. Can I blame Holmsian fandom? I've been reading a lot of Holmes/Watson fics. Hm.

In RL, there's a few things happening. I turn another year older soon (awkward; will be less awkward if coworkers manage to forget the date). But I'll get my tax refund about the same time, so yay! (You! Money! Into savings! Okay, maybe some of you goes to bills, but the rest into savings! *cracks whip*) I'm due to upgrade my phone soon, and am considering this hot little number. I may get this baby instead, if I can get over my squirms of spending more on a phone than I do on my monthly car payment.

Work is running surprisingly smoothly, other than a few drama llamas,Turnitin being annoying and the usual intrigue. (eye roll) Seriously, students, if you go a month unable to login and don't tell anyone, do not expect me to be very supportive when you wind up in your Dean's office in tears. When I say, "I'm very sorry, but if you don't call we can't know there's a problem", just know that I am facepalming at you behind my phone. ♥

In fic, I'm selling out to the Blame valtyr culture. I have signed up for two big bangs. This is all her fault!

For comicsbigbang I'm doing the Amnesia Tony fic. That one's minimum is only 10k though, and the first check-in is end of February, so it's been shuffled a little. (pets it) After having written a bit of it though, I think I'm going to do it in first person. oO Which... IDK, it bugs me a bit. First person is hard. It's difficult to manage the details, and having an interesting voice is so so so so important, since you're basically staking your fic on your character's internal monologue being catchy. But third person would be doing the fic a disservice I think. :\

For au_bigbang, I'm falling back on my love of cliché. Always a girl Ults Steve. \o/ This is interesting, in the "fighting the characters back with a spoon" sort of way. Seriously, Gail is stomping her foot dangerously close to my muse's head. She's a persistent sort; I've actually had to not write a scene because I couldn't think of a way to keep her from taking it over. YEEK. Jumbling up the opening/backstory for artistic reasons is going to be pain though. Le sigh.

Finally, to apologize for long silence, I give you all something truly amazing and a pony.

Those are the two phones I've been trying to decide between. In my research, I hear that the Eris is smaller, more 'ladylike', but the Droid is faster and can do more. However, I believe the Eris is a bit less expensive than the Droid, so there's that to consider as well.

Of course, after looking at the price of the Verizon plans I'm considering going with Cellular South instead, in which case I'll wind up with the HTC Hero. (The idea of $60 a month for the two of us to have unlimited Data just makes me cringe.)

There's a $100 difference, so that's a big eep for me. I have a $50 discount for renewing, so that helps, but... What it's coming down to for me is cost/benefit. The Droid seems to be the better phone in terms of capability, but $100 is a lot of money to shell out.

I'm only shopping for a calling plan of one, and I get an additional discount through work. Which is excellent, because Verizon is just about the only carrier that works within a 5 mile radius of my house. ._.;;

Yeah, Verizon definitely has a good coverage. We've been on Sprint for the past 8 years, and I'm fed up with them. I lose signal halfway to my parents' house, so 20 minutes of driving without a phone signal is something I have to deal with when driving alone with Joc. Don't like that. I've been sticking with Sprint because they had a $15 for unlimited data per phone thing, regardless of it being a smartphone or not. Verizon would run us around $170 a month for a 700 shared minute plan with unlimited data. :( Cell South will be about $50 less for unlimited everything. :)

However, if I already had them and could get a discount, Verizon would be where I'd go. I'm sad I won't be getting the Droid though, I likey.

Although I must admit, I'd go for that phone over the Eris, because I'm pretty much over touch tone phones, as much as the iphone is tempting (with all its knitting apps), I will take a chance on the push buttong phones.

Alas, my contract doesn't expire until this summer, so I'm stuck with my silly LG until then. Once August lands here... its on like Donkey Kong, yo.

Droid Eris looks cool enough, I like the soft edges.
Droid scares me, it is looking into my soul.
I tend to cower at the sight of a touch screen (I hate those things) I think I would go for the Eris, I like it a little bit more.

Now, I wish I could give a constructive comment, but seeing as I hate cellphones alltogether, I think I'm not the right person for this.

On the other hand, I love the pony!!

ZOMG, PONIES. :D I will admit to collecting bizarre pictures of superhero stuff--have you seen the mudkips sketches (http://community.livejournal.com/mudship/888.html)?--but there's something about combining superheroes and MLP that just...wins an internet for "LOL, that's great" with a side helping of "Jesus, who does that?!"

OK, so the Droid phone terrifies me. I have Verizon, and they keep sending me ads for it, and JESUS, Verizon, I've seen "Battlestar Galactica" and "2001" and "Terminator," ok, I KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GIVE A PHONE SENTIENCE. AND CLEARLY IT IS SENTIENT SINCE IT HAS A LITTLE RED EYEBALL. Don't doooo iiiittt, it will come alive and become an abusive boyfriend and chase away all your friends and claim that, no, no one's calling, no one loves you, even as it drops your calls into Voicemail Limbo.

...and they always say they won't do it again, but then they rip your armor off and make you think of your real boyfriend teammate in order to survive. But, see, the thing is, once they've started thinking on their own, they just won't stop, and sure, today it's being a bit jealous of the newest model or upgrade, but tomorrow it realizes that you keep all your phonenumbers and contacts and music and whatnot in its possession, and hey, you really are dependent upon it. POWER CORRUPTS, 'faerie, you KNOW this! I mean, look what it did to Bacon Hair, OK? Or the Cylons. It started off (in BSG 2003) as being helpful and turned into a 12 planet nuke-fest and genocide. PROTECT YOURSELF!

And I firmly maintain that Quesada knew exactly what he was doing. There're these gleeful little intros at the beginning of the arc--you know, instead of saying "editor" or "artist," it's "the person who let us get away with this" and "co-conspirator" and whatnot. This would also lend authority to the "CW as messy breakup/huge relationship fight" theory. I would also like to point out that this is about the same time that The Authority started up, which in Millar's run (soo...2000, 2001?) had the team essentially encounter the Avengers...the Cap analog does BadWrong things to Apollo, and the Iron Man analog is talked out of violence by the Midnighter offering a hug and the first human contact and compassion he's had in years (implication is that he's not gonna get it on his current team). I don't think this is entirely coincidence, though perhaps The Authority drew on Quesada and not vice versa. *touches finger to nose, nods knowingly* Either way...erm, there might be an f-locked picspam (http://cursor-mundi.livejournal.com/15040.html) about how there is absolutely no way, textually, that the comparison can be avoided. (This is also the lesson I give on parallelism, btw.)
