Day One

Today, procrastination has already reached ridiculous levels. You may all look at my shiny painted nails and know this. I never paint my nails, mostly because it's too much of a pain to keep up with. They chip. They break. They get used as screw drivers and warp. (What? They're useful damn it!) Or worse, they get the dreaded Hangie, which is basically just a rough edge that cries out to be gnawed on. But they got painted. IDK PEOPLE. At least there was a valid reason for doing laundry. I would like to say that I hate daylight savings. Changing the clocks just throws me all off. D:

Tony is complaining that I'm posting this instead of the scene I'd left him in. (facepalm) And here I thought he would be digging in his heels more. Silly me.

Tony: If you would simply sit down and write, instead of employing these delaying tactics, I'm sure I could entice you to give me what I want.

Nope. Nuh-uh. Because I already know where that scene is going, and it's not there. Go entice someone else. Maybe they'll porn for you.

... Tony Stark pouting in my head should not be this cute. Why can't I have Steve ordering me around too? Oh, wait, he's busy dealing with his scene. *sigh* He'll probably yell at me soon, if I'm lucky.

ANYWAY. Today's word count so far is 1,813. That's daily and total. I'm on track! Huzzah! I'll probably write more tonight, but as of posting this, that's what I've got. Not that I'm looking at show offs who have already topped 5k or anything nooooo. :P

Today's issues were figuring out where to start. It's complicated, but I've sort of got three prologues here, and then the main beginning. None of them wanted to be written and I don't know why!

Excerpt below the cut. Of course, there be spoilers ahead.

"Stark is the one." Only a fool would have spoken to contradict him. "We have not seen such potential since the Chitauri."

"And see how that came out? Stark was one of the people who took them down!" Directly across from the leader, a tall, wide man settled back in his chair. He was built like a wall, with shoulders that belonged to a linebacker. The shirt he wore, a thin t-shirt that only just missed being black by a shade, only emphasized the power of his figure. "We're playing with fire on this one; you've all seen the newspapers. He's too erratic to risk."

How do you write so fast? I wish I could write without sitting in front of the computer screen and debating the merits of each sentence.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
I have an advantage in that I've been thinking about this story for more than a month, so it's really impatient to get itself written. (homg but I know someone who's topped 5k and I'm so jealous I could scream.) Also, I've officially turned off my Sentence Check instincts; whenever I catch myself rewriting something, I make myself move on. Usually I waffle a lot, but with NaNo being all "50k! 30 days! GO!", I don't have time for that lol. December will be my Editing Month. November is Bleed Onto The Page And Call It Writing Month. (I usually go through everything backwards anyways, so Sentence Check as I go is kind of redundant.)

I can first-draft at a thousand words an hour. It's partly practice, being able to convert thoughts to coherent sentences automatically, and just bulling on through the doubts. Second draft is for nitpicking. For simple fics, I've written 3k complete stories in three hours.

You have to know what you want to say, and you have to be reasonably good at saying what you want to say.

[identity profile] dieewigenacht.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
First of all.

The lenght and shape of the nails has nothing to do with paint, really.
My nails are ugly as hell, I bite them, I scratch them and most of the time those things are too short actually be called nails.

But those things always have colors, actually I'm painting them blue right now.

And that's pretty much what I'll say, because again I just forgot what I wanted to say...Really.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
lol My problem is that I can't keep polish on them because I'm so hard on my nails. By tomorrow, they'll be chipped, and by Wednesday half of the nails will be naked again. It's usually just not worth the effort to me to keep up with it.

[identity profile] dieewigenacht.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
I feel your pain.

Really, I have to paint my nails twice every week.

I do it only once, so by the end of the week my nails are mostly bare, with just a speckle or two of paint, but still...

(It's a pretty blue)

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
You're more patient than I am. >> I feel like my nails should damn well stay painted, and can't be bothered to keep up with them.

Why, yes, I am lazy that way.

(Blue is pretty~! Mine are currently dark red.)

[identity profile] dieewigenacht.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Nah I'm not patient.

I have a LOT of free time in my hands.

Yes! yes! Blue is pretty and Red, red is also pretty :D

[identity profile] whimzii.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Guh. What. 1,813 already? Geez, woman. Your prolific-ness is making me embarrassed about being lazy.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
LOL Well, the minimum daily to hit NaNo goals is 1,667, so in that light, 1,813 isn't that much.

[identity profile] stormseye.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
I can't paint my nails these days because while I'm trying to animate on white paper, I need to erase alot. And then I need to brush off the shavings, resulting in red/any colour on my nails getting on my paper.

I let mine get really long though, and they are really handy for the things you mentioned, but they can get all gross if you don't clean them enough.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
D: Yeah, that would cause problems. (You could pioneer a style in cuticle-painting though?) I try to let mine grow sometimes, but I'm a gnawer. I can't stand rough edges/corners, and half of the time I'll have it chewed down before I realize that there's such a thing as nail files. >.>;

Dont look at other people's word counts

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
That's short cut to crazyville.

Hey I sent you a file. Hopefully you'd have gotten it?

Re: Dont look at other people's word counts

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait wait wait— there's a short cut? And here I've been going the long way. (I think I'm good. A little liver gnawing is good for me, or so TV says, and TV is never wrong donchaknow.)

I did! And I have replied! Because I was crazy this weekend and thought I had already for some reason. o.O

I painted my nails for Hallowe'en, and they're blackish-green. I have nine out of ten long pretty nails. :D (There was an incident with the a towel dispenser breaking my thumbnail.) I have already chewed off a fingers worth of varnish, though.

Keep writing! :D I am considering aiming for NaNoWriMo totals of wordcount without doing a specific NaNo story.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I really should have painted my nails, but they were hidden by gloves, so I went, "eh, lazy". >.> That's the answer to why I fail at a lot of things lol.

You should! I want to spread out my anguish! :D And anything that gets stories written is a good thing, IMO.

I painted myself green. :D

Honestly, I've written a good 80k in the last two months - getting words out is rarely a problem for me. But still, we can all use a little motivation sometimes. I want to finish more 'polished' stuff, as opposed to slightly dodgy fics for /coq/.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I did that for St. Patrick's Day once. :D Food coloring = Love. (But I won an award for Most Hardcore Employee, so it was totally worth being green for a week.)

The deadline is love. Hard, painful, tough love, but love. Anything that makes you write is A Good Thing. (nodnod)

[identity profile] caer-swan.livejournal.com 2009-11-02 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
...You still luvs me, right? ;~;

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-11-03 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Awwwh. (hugs) Of course I still loves you! ♥

[identity profile] sherriaisling.livejournal.com 2009-11-03 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
I never paint my nails, mostly because it's too much of a pain to keep up with. They chip. They break. See, this is why I only paint my toenails. So then I can just put socks on and forget about the chipy paint until I finally take it off like a month later. Which I just had to do because I needed to wear open toe shoes and the half gone pink paint just wasn't a good look with them.

a thin t-shirt that only just missed being black by a shade So, just have to ask, being that these seem to be Important People, I should be picturing this as new, nearly black shirt rather than something that's seen the wash a bit too much? (Sorry, that's weird but it's the first thing that popped into my head when I read this.)

And I owe you like a million comments for everything you posted last week. Which I will get to at some unknown point in future time. But It was all very much love and your massive drabble post made me squee.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-11-03 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
>.> I may have only just removed nail polish from May. Yeah, I know, iFail. But it was such a pretty iridescent aqua color!

Nearly new, almost black. It's actually important! \o/

lol (hugs) Thank you! The drabble post made me o-o at myself. I was like, When did this happen, Self? And Self just sort of shrugged and went back to looking at porn.

[identity profile] sherriaisling.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Mine was from June, if that makes things any better.

Really? And hear I figured I was just picking at silly details.

You're welcome! *hugs* And thank you for writing them.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
lol It actually does!

Nope. The villains, in this case, are a bit old fashioned about their hierarchy. The use shades of grey as the visual clue in, with white as the leader and black as the n00b. Almost-black is almost-n00b.

You're welcome! (hugs) I'm glad they gave you some little bit of joy. :D

[identity profile] sherriaisling.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
So are the villains all vampires? And does this mean that someone is going to try to be so foolish as to tell Tony that as a baby!vampire he's regulated to wearing black?

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2009-11-10 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Possibly. And sort of. THEY HAVE PLANS. They're luckily not incompetent enough to think Tony will just fall in line.
