Snake Chess

Hallo. I have a very strange idea, and I figured I'd run it by people randomly. (No, I'm not avoiding work for once. I'm waiting on something to finish so I can get the error message.) We all know how chess works IRL, and how long-distance chess works. It usually means having a board set up on each end and is pretty straight forward.

Chess is a very Slytherin game. Just not very Slytherin. :)

In short, I think I want to create a modified version of chess that reflects the HP series. This is pretty much purely to keep my brain occupied while waiting on the system to fail.

Here's what I have. Normal chess rules apply where they're not modified. (Yes, a lot of these changes are designed mostly to screw with the heads of the players and make it incredibly complicated.) These rules really would only be feasible in an online game, because there'd be no keeping track of what pieces can do what moves otherwise.

1) "Black" has no rooks or bishops - they're pawns. Instead, it has an extra queen, two pawns and a "dummy" king marked only on the bottom.

1a) The Dummy King can move exactly like a regular king, has six dice and is a regular King on the Imperio Chart, but does not count to the end of the game and has only one life.

2) "White" replaces two pawns with knights.

3) Pieces can be "killed" (removed from the game) or "Imperio'd" - converted to use by the opposing side.

3a) Pieces under Imperio are only under Imperio for a certain number of moves, depending on what piece "captured" them and their relationship. See the chart
  • Down is "Captured by".
  • Across "Imperio'd"
  • "NL" means "no limit".
  • Numerical values are assigned in moves.
  • R means "roll dice".
  • Number by the piece [example: Queen (5)]) indicates number of dice rolled.

x King (6) Queen (5) Bishop (4) Knight (3) Rook (2) Pawn (1)
King NA NA NA NA NA NA
Queen (5) 2 1 R R R R
Bishop (4) 3 2 1 R R R
Knight (3) 4 3 2 1 R R
Rook (2) 5 4 3 2 1 R
Pawn (1) NL 5 4 3 2 1

3b) Pieces which require a "roll dice" to capture roll different numbers of dice depending on the piece involved. (Example - Kings rolls 6.) Only one die is kept. The person with the highest single die wins. If the attacking piece wins, the loser is Imperio'd. If the attacked piece wins, the winner can remove the other piece or start a new round of dice to attempt to Imperio the other. (Only one round each allowed, or a tie is declared by default.) In case of a tie, both pieces are removed from play.

3c) Pieces under Imperio which are re-captured are "freed", and resume normal play.

4) Kings "die" twice, and cannot be Imperio'd. After the first "death", the King is removed from the board for three rounds. During this time, Pawns of the "dead" king gain one square extra movement. After the "revival" rounds, the king is returned to its place at the start of the game and pawns return to normal.

Well? I wonder if I can find anyone to play me...

Edited because my table prowess is not so prow.

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
*Blinks* Well, give me some lessons, and I'd be really happy to play with you. I don't play chess much irl (Dude, teenager. who wants to play chess with a teen anymore? D: So I'm not very good....), but your idea sounds really good! :D

Can you imagine the board and pieces? ...Wow. Just, wow. That'd be kinda complicated, but I liked it. :D

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not very good either. The few times I've won, it was a complete fluke. So it's probably be the blind leading the blind, lol.

You're a teenager? You "sound" older! Maybe it's the Fen - we speak the same language.

Well, since there's an HP theme, the board could go with that... Death Eaters on one side, Order on the other. Dumbledore would be the Light "Queen" (snick), Ron and Snape the Knights, Hermione and McGonagall Bishops, Neville and Luna Rooks, with various minor cast as pawns (pardon - freedom fighters). Lucius/Bellatrix could be the Queen pieces for Dark; two Voldemorts as kings (one with a book/diary engraved on the bottom to mark the false king), Peter and Snape (again) as Knights, and the pawns (honesty this time) again minor cast. Each piece could have a toggle sort of thing to mark when it's under enemy control, and the kings have one that can be pulled out so (in the course of a long game) they can be marked when they've lost their first life... I think people would just have to keep track of how many moves an Imperio'd piece has until it switches sides again.

I have this horrible, creeping feeling that I'm about to learn some sort of programing.

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
Blind leading the blind. Ah, but what a wonderufl saying; it describes so much, and so well.

The Fen? *TIlts head* Sorry, not understanding immediately..... Just woke up, can I sue that excuse? (Shhhh, I'm actually a morning and night person....but just woke up works SO well!)
*Grins* Eh, well, everyone thinks I'm older when they "meet" me. Even in real life, people mistake me for an adult. *Shrugs* It's not necessarily because I LOOK so old....it's more so that I don't dress like a teenager, and certainly act nothing like one. Most f my friends are adults; teens and I tend not to get along. *Shrugs*

Dude, YES, Light QUEEN Fumblesbore! (That's what I call him when I'm in a bashing/hating mood, lol. ^^; Or merely joking around. For all his haters, he was highly intelligent, and intelligence is something I admire. :) )

Woah, but that'd be SO awesome.....! I love the piece ideas, definitely!
Yeah, I Imperio'd char's would be the death of some of 'em. maybe literally. XD

But I think a good number of people would get on your case about not adding Ginny...*Frowns slightly* And what about Draco Malfoy? Any way to work those two in?

Haha.... horrible feeling and programming, eh. Why's that?

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. *sigh* (heads off to lead some blind people and silently hopes they haven't turned off the bloody lights again)

Fen = plural for "Fan" as a proper noun. Its our group identifier apparently. (Like European / Europeans. I think. The simile could use some work.) It kind of reminds me of the Belgariad (if you've read it) and the fens of Drasnia. oO

Being mistaken as older than you are is a good thing right up until you're actually an adult. And then it just sort of gets depressing sometimes, lol. I thought you were probably my age (23-ish). It's probably at least partly your vocabulary and spelling - seeing people spel lik dis makes my eyes hurt. Also, there's been intelligent conversation. That's a big hint. (Admittedly, intelligent conversation can be hard to find amongst adults some days...)

lol Yeah. Take the queen and the king is down a life almost immediately. But since a dice roll is required anytime a piece tries to take a bigger piece (pawn takes queen / Pavarti takes Bellatix), it's more realistic because there's actual uncertainty. A pawn can take a queen... but it'll have to be a lucky pawn. The king is the only piece that bugs me. Should there be a dice roll to take a king? In a "real" battle (which chess is supposed to simulate), by the time you're taking out a king it's all or nothing, But a king can't take a king, and anything "lesser" would have to roll... which means the game would go from long to potentially endless. Whoa.

Honestly, I was thinking about them in terms of canon, where the definitely rate "pawn" status. x.x But I loves me my Draco... And the Ginnys (pre-HPB and post, because they're so different they may as well be two people) can both be awesome in their own way. :/ Hm. I suppose Draco could take the extra Knight place (being filled by a Snape) and Ginny could take Luna's place as a Rook. But I sort of like having two Snapes, to be honest. ^^; Hm. I could give him Peter's spot... "Pawn" is such a good name for that one.

Horrible feeling because I don't know programing. o.o; And this would be project two on the Big Scale of Distractions. (Project N^10^10^10 including various fics, sketches and "omg gotta try that" ideas.)

XD Just.....XD

<i>Fen = plural for "Fan" as a proper noun. Its our group identifier apparently.</i>
.....I have never heard of that. Since when? Why wasn't I alerted to this important fact?!? AT LONG LAST, I HAVE AN IDENTITY!!!

<i> I thought you were probably my age (23-ish).</i>
....*Blinks* Wow. 23-ish? (For some reason, I can visualize you as both 23, and 19..and 17....but 19 works really well for you, for some reason...*Shrugs*)
I love being mistaken for older. People constantly think I am, and have done so since I was young. *Shrugs* When I was a kid, on the rare occasion someone guessed younger, I, oddly, never felt insulted....which is odd....lol.

<i>Also, there's been intelligent conversation. That's a big hint. (Admittedly, intelligent conversation can be hard to find amongst adults some days...)</i>
True...so, so true. D: Heh. I'm great for intelligent conversation. ^_~ I can also mix silly and intelligent very well, which, combined, is simply hilarious.

*Laughs* Aye. Having two snapes was brilliant, I think. But draco and Ginny are simply so popular....but Luna is just so cool too...*Shrugs helplessly*

[identity profile] lyakahime.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
I remember that feeling... first when I learned the word "otaku" and then, years later, "fen".

If you're looking to meet your long-lost very-extended family, may I recommend conventions? XD

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
I work in technical support. Sometimes it's worse than the blind leading the blind, because the person being led needs to tell the person who's leading where they're going. (twitch) Don't mind me. Faculty have slain me today.

I picked it up in Strikethrough. I actually had to look up my own group identifier. Sad.

23. 24 in... About five days. And yet still writing/reading about 16 year old boys in wildly improbably situations doing very unlikely things in the strangest of ways. ^^; Age is an arbitrary number assigned by time, and doesn't affect anything actually important. (At least, that's my story now that I'm in the twenties.)

At least I'm coming across as my own age range finally. When I was a kid (12ish), people mistook me for my own mother. x.X And I didn't look it, I swear! I'd rather be mistaken as younger than older!

Silly + Intelligent = Fun. Simple equation. We can't be serious all the time!

I want Draco. And Ginny. But they're both definitely bit players... (perks) Well, I can always add a special rule to the extra dark pawns and thus give him and one other some sort of special status. Maybe something happens if they're taken - both Ginny and Draco ended up being used by the other side in pretty strategic ways.

Hmmmm.....

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-13 11:53 am (UTC)(link)

Well, happy early birthday then! :D If I get the time, I'll see if I can write you a fic. Beware the bad writing! *Holds up arms in cliche' zombie position* XD Eh, I'm not so bad. ^^; But I'm not fabulous. Still have fun writing, though....^_~
If I write you a fic, it'll probably be AkuRoku. Just so's you know, lol. I like writing fics for people; in fact, I made a journal entry when I first came here then I'm willing to write some fics for people...all the specifics are in that journal. (You can ask for one, if you want. Writing for people makes me write hard, which is good. :D)
Hey, age doesn't matter. it's a number, nothing more. *Shrugs* That's how I look at age, at least.

Lol. People think my mom and I are sisters; it's quite funny, especialyl since she's in her early 50's. XD (Yes, we're a FEW years apart, thank you very much, lol.) But the people in my family always look younger; my mom was carded at places up until her late 30's. Then people thought she was about 21! *Laughs* My dad looks young I suppose, save his hair. He started getting pepper hair when he was 18, lol. But even my grandmother looks young....we just all look young, heh.

Yes, I like that equation. But no one in this state has seen me just let go, no way. XD

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-14 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. ^^; You don't need to write me anything - I'm horrible at reciprocating. Really. And birthdays tend to stay off my calendar for some reason. I'll make a note, and then completely forget about it until it's waaay too late. (Although if you feel like writing AkuRoku to please the Gods of Yaoi, I certainly wouldn't object.)

(nods) Yep. What's the point in worrying about something that will happen no matter what you do?

If your parents look young, maybe the gene carried over. Even if you don't care about your looks, feeling physically young longer must be nice. Even if age is just a number, it can't be fun to have knees going out and stuff.

..."in this state"? I sense a story.

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Reciprocating? But I honestly didn't expect you to; I LIKE writing things for people. *Confused* I find it enjoyable... I mean, I know I'm not the best, but nevertheless it is one of the talents I'm at least a little proud of, and I just like doing things for people.

Birthdays aren't important to me, really. Another year, another day, only thing that changes is I've got a year more experience under my belt, and I raise the number of my age. *Shrugs*

AkuRoku to please the gods. Are you calling yourself a god?

.......*Gets the hint* OH SHOOT! Goddess, I'm sorry for not treating you with the proper respect!!!! *Hurriedly bows and grovels for mercy*

*Sniggers when 'goddess' isn't looking*

Lol. I actually call one of my friends Goddess. It cheers her up. :)

*Grimaces* Feeling younger? Let me correct you on that.... I have never felt young. never. I've felt as old as the earth on more then one occasion. I'm wiser then most adults I know, I'm smarter then a good many of them, one of the biggest intellectuals I personally know, and I learn a ton every day. Hence the reason people think I can see into their soul, and often speak their thoughts before they finish them. I know what they're thinking, quite easily. People are easy, if you can see, hear, smell, etc, them. *Shrugs*

I'm not bragging. All of this, quite frankly, often pisses me off, pardon my language. I learn too much, sometimes; it's why one generally sees me acting lazy and not doing much of anything. *Shrugs* I have to slow myself down somehow, before I explode. *Scowls*

Not to mention I don't feel young physically in the least bit. *Scowls* I moan like an old lady when I get up or down, and I'm less healthy then my fairly unhealthy (and could be so much worse, bu also could be SOOOO much better) grandmother, for crying out loud. We go places, and I'm the first one to start hurting and feeling sick. What a joy.

Regarding "in this state".....

I'm angry right now. I'll lose it if I tell it; it's a big deal in my book.
Maybe later I'll tell it. When I'm feeling calm, lol.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Reciprocating
You can if you want to - I just feel weird about people doing things for my birthday. Or really, for me at all. (Yes, this does annoy people.)

(disdainful sniff) And it's about time you realized it! Mortals these days!

... (cracks up)

(pats) You're a good people-reader. I should probably count myself lucky that this is an internet convo then - reading me is probably like reading a magazine bought by a guy on a street corner who keeps them under his coat and you have to take it home in a paper sack in case the cover gives your neighbor a terminal heart-attack.

(frowns worriedly) Just generally bad health or something specific? You don't have to go into details if you don't want (obviously - what'll I do? Hold the yaoi ransom?).

(patpathug) No pressure.^-^

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Reciprocating
Hoboy; I know how that is. I'm the exact same way. But, I also love giving people things, and doing things for them, etc.......... So, you never know.

Oh, Goddess; I'm so sorry! Please forgive this unknowing servant; she did not mean to offend you!!

*Grins*

reading me is probably like reading a magazine bought by a guy on a street corner who keeps them under his coat and you have to take it home in a paper sack in case the cover gives your neighbor a terminal heart-attack.
....I'm sorry, but that was just hilarious. XD
But aye; reading people is easy. It really is....most of the time. There are always those annoying individuals who manage to make it difficult...but they can't stop me forever! *Insert evil laugh*

......What'll I do, hold the yaoi ransom?
You make me laugh. I like that; not many manage to do that. :)
Both, actually...bad health AND specific's. *Scowls* Grrrr. My juvenile arthritis is make a comeback, my memory's going on the fritz like mad, and overall, I'm just really screwed up. Stupid bad health and always getttng sick...*Grumbles darkly*

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. You get it then. ^^; I've been told by a psychology teacher it's a sign of low self-esteem... Which is possible. It's also possibly that I'm never sure how to show how grateful I am. o.o;

Forgiven. Provided you read enough smut.

Bwahaha. ^^ That's cool - it means you're not going to get the wool pulled over your eyes easily. And you can pull the woll yourself easier. >:D

Good! Laughter is good for you - it aids good health. So laugh! Or else.

I think of what "or else" when I'm not coffee-less and half-asleep at work.

Aw. That really sucks. Arthritis (which I don't have, luckily) is a bitch. Memory... Well, at least you have a ready excuse for things and it's buyable! "Oh, was I supposed to clean my room? I forgot!"

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
*Laughs* Aye, I agree with both. I have VERY low self-esteem/confidence/ego/WHATEVER it is.....lol.

Haha. Just this morning I read some smut...... several fanfictions worth........enough for this day, O Goddess of Yaoi?

>XD Muahahahaaaaa....yeah; it takes a lot to pull the wool over my eyes! (And to make up for me being so perceptive or whatever..... I'm very gullible with jokes. TT_TT No, really. I didn't understand the concept of a joke until I was 10, and even now I generally don't find things funny. *Shrugs* And yet i'm the one to find the humor in a bad situation. I guess my undeveloped sense of humor decides to help out and GIVE me some humor in a bad situation....lol.

THank any god out there that you don't have it. It's soooo annoying. *Growls* Especially for people who love working out, and being an athlete.....and dancing...swimming....etc...Gyah.

Yeah, but it gets old. *Sighs* Luckily people know I generally have a great memory (I can remember numbers, for some reason, although I'm bad at math--I can remember all the money my family has ever spent on holidays back until age 5; not kidding) so people don't think I'm lying when I say I forget. And, they know I don't believe in excuses; they know I hate them. I make them all the time, but I'll be the first to admit I hate making them.

It's like my habit of saying sorry for everything, even if it had nothing to do with me, or I did nothing wrong. It comes from a history of people blaming me, etc. Grrr.

My brothers are huge sources of my low self esteem and confidence and all. There are other sources, but they're pretty big up there. >_< Stupid brothers.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Low Self-Esteem
I generally agree with both, but people react oddly when they hear "I have low self-esteem". All of a sudden there's ths massive panic to make you feel good about yourself... which usually backfires, because they're usually doing it because if they don't they'll look like they don't care... oi. Spirals on spirals of insanity. It's easier just not to mention it.

I'm good at not-mentioning things.

Several fanfics of smut are adequate, yes. ^_^ You have pleased the Goddess.

Wool-pulling and humor
You don't get jokes? oO? I didn't get that at all. Look! Normal conversation! Laughing! Banter! You have done it! Maybe we're just weird together.

I am grateful. I know a lot of people with it and I can definitely say that when/if my time comes to deal (hopefully several decades down the road) I'm not going to be at all gracious about it. I don't know how you manage.

That's a cool talent. Not as useful as, say, telepathy or telekinesis, but if you're going to have mental weirdness, that's a convenient way to go. Also less likely to get you hooked up to electrodes on a semi-regular basis.

(makes excuses a lot, and so if she agrees will be a hypocrite >>)

(hugs) On the bright side, you have one thing they can't have without a lot of money spent on surgery. A vagina. For what it's worth. :) (trying to cheer you up - probably failing)

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-18 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
All of a sudden there's ths massive panic to make you feel good about yourself... which usually backfires, because they're usually doing it because if they don't they'll look like they don't care...
Aye, same here. It really is annoying. Subtleness and actually caring=lost art. Y-Y Of course, actually caring without pushing it. My friend pushes it sometimes. I finally had to bonk her on the head and say quite firmly I was, let's see, SICK of her attempts at making me feel better, and they were only making me feel worse, so, in all politeness, WOULD SHE PLEASE STOP IT.
More or less, that's what I do. xD It's really annoying when people think I'm not being serious when I keep saying "no, stop". Really, what do they think I mean, if not precisely what I'm saying?! *Scowls* Honestly!

Humor
*Grins* Well, normally, no, I don't. With other people who AREN'T "normal", I can manage some semblance of humor. With older people with a good sense of humor that don't mind me acting weird or slightly crazed, I can actually HAVE a sense of humor. *Shrugs*

I know a lot of people with it and I can definitely say that when/if my time comes to deal (hopefully several decades down the road) I'm not going to be at all gracious about it. I don't know how you manage.
Well, with the obvious answer, of course: One day at a time. Really, I have a difficult time managing with it, but hey -- you have it, start recovering, lose it, still recovering, then begin to get it again.... well, you never quite lost it in the first place, really. The time you spend recovering from it can be even worse, because you KNOW you don't have it anymore, but, what're you going to do? Any good habits you might once have had are out the window by the time you might get to a recovery stage. *Grimaces* I mind it quite a bit more then I let on, let me assure you. However, I'm just the sort of person who takes things in stride; if things happen, well, they happen. It may not stop me from getting angry or upset over it, but no more so then getting sick on an important day, or something. You got it, deal with it.
I can't stand people who get sick and then start whining about how their lives are ruined. Yeah, well, mine kinda is, and I've dealt with it. Deal with it. it's easier then it seems, and yet harder. *Shrugs*

Mental Weirdness!!!!! *Insert Twilight Zone theme*
*Shrugs and smiles slightly* If I'm gonna have a mental weirdness. Well, it's ONE way of putting it. xD Lol. Well, I've got a LOT of "mental weirdness"'s. Like the fact I KNOW I'm insane. Eh, at least I know it, right? ^_~ (Acting like the only sane one left is just a fun act. Really. Very fun indeed. *Grins*)

I make excuse upon excuse upon excuse. I even have arguments and logic to back them up. Which people really hate, because they always lose if they argue with me. *Grins* Or we sort of mutually come to an agreement where someone thinks they won... and then the next day come back, looking flabbergasted (I can't BELIEVE that's a word....), and demanding HOW on earth I managed to win that argument and they thought they won it! xD

...Er, yeah. Failing on cheering me up, but that's all right. I've only realized I'm slowly going down the path of depression again, hakuna matata. xD (What? But it's so shiny and all distracted-y.........*Giggles insanely*)

.....Woooooow, I'm weird.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's sort of a fine line to walk... too much and it's annoying and false-seeming. Too little and you seem like you don't care. Why do we (humans) do this to ourselves? "A =/= A. A == B." WTF?

Humor
Are you suggesting that I'm not normal? How dare you! I'm a unique and special person who is completely and utterly normal and...um...er... Yeah. And stuff! So there!

That's probably a good way of dealing with it. (hugs) Since I don't have any personal experience, I really don't know what to say. :/ Awkwardness.

Excuses
I'm coming to a shakey hypothesis that everyone makes excuses, even if only to themselves. "I would have been late anways, traffic was that bad" and "it's not cheating if I don't do anything about it". They might be valid, but they're meant to forgive ourselves for mistakes. Maybe we need them, or else we'd be paralyzed for fear of misstepping.

(hugs) I tried. Just let me know if you need anything - even if it's a few days away from the internet to get ahold of yourself or something, okay? Depression sucks, but the only way to deal with it is to just deal with it. Like Nike. "Just do it." Or... you know. Don't. Whichever.

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"A =/= A. A == B."
That sums it up pretty nicely, yeah. XD
it's because we're an idiotic race, of course.

Excuses
Of course everyone makes excuses. Human nature; we don't want to blame ourselves. Or, in my case, I take all the blame while at the SAME time blaming something else AND YET STILL blaming myself FOR doing all that other stuff. Make any sense at all? XD

"Like Nike."
You reminded me of that movie, "Like Mike". XD Haha. Yup; only way to deal is to deal. :)
Actually, internet helps. Last time I entered depression I was at the same time fighting my obsession with the internet. *Grimaces* Really; instant messengers and internet had me completely obsessed. I would sneak out at night from my room at 2 am to go back on an IM my friends and continue chatting or roleplaying. Usually roleplaying, lol.

So wow, double whammy last time. Of course, this time, thank god no obsession, but I'm in high school now. *Scowls* Which could make it just as bad, who knows. *Sighs*

O, da teenage angst!

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-19 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
(nods) If we were smart, we'd do the dolphin thing. Look cute, do some tricks and get some other sucker species to bring us fish.

Excuses
Actually, it does... "It's my fault It did A, but it's not my fault because It did it!" sort of thing?

Like Nike
Oh, gods, the song. (bangs head) Now it's an earworm. (goes looking for a way to get rid of it)

It's only bad if you let it interfere with other activities. Like reading. Or eating. So don't fight the addiction! ^^; I used to do that with roleplaying, but my usual RP partner and I haven't had a really engrossing one since... hm. Since I can't remember. Maybe our Anthro KH..? Anyways, I'm cured! Until we come up with an enthralling plot again, at least.

So don't worry if the internet is taking over your life. Ask yourself, is it the internet or the things I do on it (read/write/chat/play)? It's like the Big Bad of Internet Gambling... are you addicted to gambling, or to the internet?

High School... might make it worse. Might not. You have your feet on the ground, so you realize what's going on. That'll help a lot. Maybe if you pin-point the cause(s)..?

If we were smart, we'd do the dolphin thing. Look cute, do some tricks and get some other sucker species to bring us fish.
If we were all dolphins (sounds great, how you described it! XD), then we'd be highly sexual; more so then we are now. *Laughs* among dolphins, it's a common thing to have sex with someone just for fun, or because they're bored. *Shrugs*
But I just LOVED how you put that. I have a whole little page on my website just so I can put down some things you say. Dude, some of your quotes are LOVE, haha.

Excuses
Well, more or less. But I add some other stuff there so by the end, I'm the only one who has the smallest clue what I'm talking about. >_>

Now, trust me. It was a full-blown addiction. It interfered with EVERYTHING; how I passed that year, I shall NEVER know. *Grimaces*
I haven't seriously, seriously rped since about 2 years ago or so.......but I did have a small roleplay (we were hogwarts students; yay for yaoi hogwarts! *Grins*) a month or so ago with a friend.... Lol.

It HAD taken over my life. Trust me, I was obsessed, and very unhealthily. *Scowls* Ugh!

Well, that's true......I may have my head in the clouds, but my feet are firmly planted on the ground. *Laughs* So who knows how everything is going to go, hmm? I can only be thankful that my school isn't cliquey in the least. I mean, not at ALL. (Shocking, isn't it. O_O)

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
See, that's why dolphins are smarter than people, because people do it to. We just try and talk ourselves out of it by attaching morals to the act. And then we do it anyways. (sweatdrop)

LOL Confusion, that's the way to go! If they can't understand what you mean, eventually they'll agree just to stop you from explaining again.

Urg. Addiction is nasty, but at least you're past it.

Yaoi Hogwarts = love. I've fallen out of Harry Potter since book 7. JKR's sharp left at the tag end of the series threw me off the train.

(nods) Like I said - being aware of what's going on will help.

That is kind of shocking. Cliques form so easily in schools, it's amazing yours hasn't succumbed. Enjoy it before the zombies cliques do come together to eat brains make life Hell.

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
xD Oh, but being dolphins would be fun. (I always think of Sora and dolphins, and that makes me think he's a horny little thing. Good for RIku. I'm sure HE loves it. *Sniggers*)

Yeah..... but that's the awesome thing about books. Even if you go BY the books, you can still go OUT of the books, too. A fanfic I'm currently playing with (the idea, I mean) takes place after all seven books, and all those have come true..... and it still ends up being a harry/draco, lol.
Our characters were soooo cool.. Mine was a Slytherin (my house, whee) and hers was a Ravenclaw (her house, lol).

HIGH SCHOOL, and no cliques. It's wonderful. :D

I CONVINCED MY FRIEND TO GO TO COLLEGE~! *Does an excited little dance* And she wants to go to college with me, which actually works out great, because what we want our majors to be are usually found at the same schools! *SUPER excited, haha*

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
(snick) VERY good for Riku. It's kind of weird, but Riku is the only character I've ever known to successfully pull off a "switch". In KHI, he was so utterly a Top. And now... Bottom Boy, ahoy! It suits him. Especially since Roxas seemed pretty Top, and he's re-joined with dolphin-y Sora... I forsee sore!Riku in the future.

(nods) I've tried to do that, really, but the epilogue just throws everything to pieces. I don't want my boys to have kids through women, gr! That and book 7 took such a drastic change in everything... we really should have heard about the Hallows ages prior to book 7. Instead it's like... "Fight fight kill kill oh and here's some magic items that can fix everything yay The End." xx

LOL Slytherin rocks. I can never say that enough. It's even more maligned than Hufflepuff. At least they've got a rap as good guys.

Whoohoo! Good for your friend - college is necessary, damnit! And it's also great that you two can go together. ^_^V

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-21 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
*Grins* DEFINITELY. Your description of him in that paragraph goes quite perfectly. *Smirks*

I actually liked how book 7 tied everything into place. Although admittedly I'm torn between throwing the book away from me and laughing aloud when I read the Final Battle, xD GO MRS. WEASLEY! Hahahaaaaa.....

I'm actually evenly distributed, my personality is, to all four houses. I'm just MOSTLY Slytherin. But I could go into any of the houses and fit right in. :)

Heh, yeah. She doesn't know much about colleges -- at ALL -- so I'm doing the research. She trusts me, I know what she likes, and she wants both the beach and the mountains, which I'd love too..... she says she likes my choices of states to attend colleges in. So.....yeah. :D This should be itneresting.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-22 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
>:D (secretly ♥s bottom!Riku, though is a fan of switching in general)

My major arguments against the series are her "I'll kill... you, you and you" darts-like killing of characters and the Hallows. Gr. Other than that,it would have flowed just fine for me. Not what I wanted (hot steaming Gryffindor/Slytherin sexorz with a side of puppyshipping), but I wasn't going to get that. Also, she totally wimped out on Ginny. She could have been a string character in her own right. Instead she ended up revolving around Harry, getting a complete characterization make-over and doing nothing special.

I think most people end up evenly distributed, really, except in rare cases. Most of the time it's a choice (Hallo, Harry - snake or lion?) or a question of values. Me? I'm SnakeEagleLion. (Chimera. o.o!), but almost no Badger. My laziness and general lack of loyalty just don't seem to work there.

If you wanted mountains and beach, you're pretty limited on your choices. Hm...

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-22 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
XD Hahahaaaaa. Bottom!Riku is funny. And cute. because he so rarely bottoms. D: Lol.

Eh, well. My only big complaint is Lupin Died (NOOOO! NOT REMMY TOO!), and the whole book has a slightly rushed feeling, unlike her other books. Like at the end she was just in a hurry to get it all our on paper or something. *Shrugs*

You're a Chimera, yeah. That's awesome. XD
I'm really chivalrous. It can be a problem sometimes. :p I have loyalty almost to a fault, but it's born more out of obligation and the fact they were WILLING to be my friend, moreso then me actually being superduper loyal or anything..... *Grimaces*

New Hampshire and Washington and Massachusetts; we agreed those are our favorite states that we might go to. I'd consider NY, simply because it has good colleges. But I don't actually want to go there...*Frowns*

One of the colleges I'm really considering is near, like, 5 dif places. Canada, NY, Boston, Vermont....I think somewhere else, but I can't remember, lol. That'd just be cool. It's in NH, in case you couldn't figure that out, lol.

Mountains and beach; we could get that, with MA. And WA. Not so much with NH; beach is fun, but I prefer mountains. ^^;

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-26 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
He does! It's sad. ;-; I think it's the older/taller/more-physically-masculine rules, which suck. Let the girlie boys top too, damnit!

By the time she killed Lupin, for me it was almost a release. She's tortured the poor guy through the whole of books six and seven. x.X It did feel rushed, but I put that down to so many details she should have hinted at earlier. It was just too thick with tiny stuff in a book that was mostly camping in the woods. ._.;

Hm. Does obligation-loyalty count? Besides, that's a Hufflepuff trait, really. I'm not sure why it gets attached to other Houses so much... (ponders)

CANADA. o.o! Whoa. COLD! (shiver) In fact, anwhere with mountains would be cold. so you're probably insane of some kind. (Like I'm one to talk...)

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-26 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I know a couple of girly boys who are definitely toppers. There's no way on earth they'd let anyone top THEM. XD Haha.

Yeah.....I'm gonna stop talking about Harry Potter now. It's making me annoyed at the books and movies.
(READ: I'm lazy, sick, and can't think of anything else to put down.)

*Frowns* Well, in my mind, none of the houses seem particularly "loyal". Granted some people are, but there are always exceptions for anything. *Shrugs* But even if you look at Hufflepuff OR Gryffindor, I mean, really. They'd take media over him any day, and that, dear one, is just stupidity. Some people would stick up for him, but I mean, even herm and Ron questioned him at times (ron a lot more so then Herm; he really made me mad a lot.....but he always did come to his senses, so I hold no lasting grudge to him. :D).

*Laughs* Most people prefer heat; it's an understandable thing. I'm the opposite, I (STRONGLY) prefer the cold! :D *Giggles* Really, you should see a day of me in heat, and a day of me in the cold.

Me in a good mood during a hot day would only happen if it's dry heat, and I'm near a body of water (pool, beach, lake, ocean).

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Girly boys are the best tops, because they have something to prove. (This is my Roxas!Theory)

lol I do that. Mentioning stopping. ^_^

In a side note, I've decided to buy Stardust, because the movie is rocking. The book will undoubtedly rock even more. I WANT.

Officially speakig, Hufflepuffs get the "loyal" designator, but... Honestly, only Gryffindors and Slytherins show their traits to me. And then it's to the point of utter cliche. I think it's because JKR designated Gryffindors as protagonists, Slytherins and antagonists. Everyone else gets to be background.

I was raised in Arizona. So "heat" is an understatement. I start getting comfortable at 80-ish, when everyone around me starts complaining about the heat. (sweatdrop) Exact opposites, much?

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
The movie is DEFINITELY rocking!!! *Giggles in remembrance of Captain Shakespeare* "I'm thinking great literary master, they're thinking SHAKE! SPEAR!"
*Snickers* Ah, yes. I do so love my Captain Shakespeare. XD I WANT THAT BOOK! But even if it's completely different from the book, I'll love the movie. It's so hard NOT to. It's as good as a great fanficiton. *Sighs happily* It's on my top 5 list, easy. Or top 10, at the very least.
I already own it. :D Saw it in theatre, and then got it for Christmas. CHYAH.

Well, that's true.....*Shrugs* Eh.

great. My dad yelled at me again. e_e Sheesh. I wish they'd just get a divorce already, sheesh. Make MY life easier, at least.

Haha. I've been to Arizona. It's pretty, in its' way. But definitely not my kind of country.
*Grimaces* It's 34 degrees outside, and I'm STILL feeling hot in the house.
Ouch.
I really need to move back to where it's cold for longer then a few hours during the day. *Sighs* Can't wait for college, then I can go somewhere nice and cold when it should be. I don't mean warmth/heat during SUMMER, but ONLY then. (The occasional odd day outside of summer is fine; I don't have a problem with odd weather every now and then when it comes to that.)

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG, he rocked so much! I wanted him to kill Septimus! Or at least knock him a good one, but the pirate reaction to that dress was just amazingly wonderful. *sigh* We rented it last night, and it has to go back home soon. ;-; It's definitely on my to buy list, and is going to end up right on the shelf next to the Princess Bride and Ever After.

Urg. (hug) I know how that goes. :/ Feel free to rant, if you need to.

Arizona... I detest. I love the people I still have over there, but... desert? Give me green!

You were hot and I was frozen, lol. I'm thinking Hawaii for a final destination, honestly. Mild winters and lots of greenery. (happy sigh) It also has the advantage of being beastly hard for family to randomly appear on. Plane or boat would be necessary, which means plans in advance.

Aside: I would so die in Japan. x.x COLD.

[identity profile] blinddeciever.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Princess Bride was interesting, from what I remember when being 2/3's asleep. Ever after is great, lots of humor, and Drew Barrymore is great. :D She's funny; has a very unique look, and very unique way of speaking. She gets a lot of diverse roles, as well; even if she ended up being a real bitch in real life, I'd nevertheless respect her as an actress. :)
My first thought when I saw the pirates come in and see Septimus about to stab C. Shakespeare was, "And if they were a tad faster in the brain, they'd realize that, change a few details, and that would be a very....interesting.....position."
I love rival 'ships. Don't ask me why. *Shrugs* Then again, i love 'most all 'ships. *Laughs sheepishly* I'm just too open minded. There's a quote somewhere that says, "Some people are so open-minded their brains fall out." That fits me to a T. XD (That explains why I've been so forgetful lately....>_< Hmm!)

For "final destination", I'm think Washington, New Hampshire, Massachusetts..... very green, nice summers, cold, snowy winters (in WA, that strongly depends on where you live; where I lived was about 15 minutes or less from the pacific, so we got a lot of slush, too....snowball fights were interesting, but snow never lasted nearly long enough! *pouts*), beautiful and fantasy-like in many of its own ways. *Smiles* Florida has places that fit that last bit, but, then again, as does every place.

Japan=you die, eh? Hmm. Stick to somewhere else, then. XD

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-29 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
lol The book (abridged!) is pretty good too. ^^; A quick read, but nice and fun. Ever After is the reason I found Drew Barrymore. I almost never pay attention to actors, but that role just slammed me. *happy sigh* I admit to being a sucker for the Damsel who gets herself out of Distress. (And pirates. >.> Buttercup was such a wimp...)

(snicker) I thought that too, but I watched it with my Grandpa in the room. He was already kind of shocked at the dress. :\ Rival ships do rock so much. XD The passion and anger just have to be hiding something, right? Right? (tries to drag Harry and Draco out of the proverbial closet)

Really? I've never heard that one. But it explains why I lost my keys three times last week. o.o; Maybe we should wear hats?

(shivers) I remember Washington. Blech. City. But I guess that's unavoidable for college. Geez, I'm picky about my chosen habitat. Never realized.

lol I'd love to visit, but most buildings don't have central heating. o.o!

[identity profile] lyakahime.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
You've actually made me want to play chess. I didn't think that was possible.

Well? Get coding! A java app should do it.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Java? o-o; I've never done Java for real! Nor even flash!

Though it's really tempting... Setting up a two-player game would be difficult though. Hm. (ponders this)

New project. o.o;;; This will be... interesting. At the very least, it'll fill the empty hours at work.

[identity profile] lyakahime.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, java's easy. If you know any OO language at all you'll pick it up in no time.

[identity profile] tsukinofaerii.livejournal.com 2008-02-12 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
... if you say so... (wanders off to see if she can "pick it up in no time")
