Weekend Report
I... was finally going to make that pet post, and then I realized that I left the pictures on a thumb drive at home. (facepalm) So you can probably expect puppehs tomorrow, along with kittehs and horsies.
This weekend was... erm, expensive? Lol I went shopping for prom shoes for
winchestercon. I did not think that a pair of gold, strappy heels would be hard to find since they're usually all over the place. Fail, self, because apparently silver is all the rage this year. WHY? Usually I never wear gold, but the one time I need it is the one time I can't find it. It took me two weeks to find this pair, and as much as I love them I have definitely learned my lesson: next time, just go straight to a small boutique. It was cheaper than any of the other places by a long shot and they had dozens of pairs. (eyeroll) Don't I feel silly?
After that, I made my big mistake. I had spare time, so I browsed. Did anyone else know that Hot Topic carries Kingdom Hearts shirts now? D: And then they had a sale on clearance items (an extra 50% off!), so I got myself a neat little zip-up sleeveless top that I had to have... Then they had the Cap wrist-warmers and a Civil War wallet with a chain! (flaily) See, I desperately needed a wallet with a chain, since I have a horrible habit of losing my wallet. I need to attach it to something. (This is not fool-proof. Once I had attached it to my jeans, and I lost not only my wallet but the jeans as well.) Anyways, the wallet had Iron Man on the front with a fake!Cap's shield (I know it's fake because it's pitted and chipped, and we all know that real!Cap's shield is indestructible.) So there went some money lol, but those are maybe the purchases I regret the least. (Which is to say, not at all.)
I also picked up some glovelets for work at Claire's (as well as a few other things, including a flask at Ice omg yays—it's like Claire's for grown-ups!), because my hands get freezing and that makes it hard to type. The glovelets are rainbow-colored and very cozy. Also, I discovered that no one carries hair-sticks anymore, which sucks because my last set just broke and those things are practically necessary for me. They're insanely convenient for work—just twist, stick and go. :( After that, Victoria's Secret had a sale going on, so I picked up two new bras while they were cheap since two of mine recently decided to kick the bucket. @-@
In short, thank goodness I had extra money budgeted this month—it came out of WinCon budget, but that's going to be more than I needed anyway thanks to random paycheck with an extra week included. We get paid monthly here, but the months don't line up perfectly with a four-week schedule (which honestly seems to surprise some people), so three of our paychecks are five weeks—which beats their old policy of making some paychecks three weeks. Those days hurt badly. August just happened to be one of the five-week months. (This part is called "making excuses", can you tell? @-@) I should have saved it, but I think family-aimed frustration built up and combined with good sales to wreck my willpower, especially seeing as I almost never buy anything frivolously—I'm usually very good with my monies. At least I resisted the Cinnabun? Which... isn't really a consolation. ;-; Cinnabuns are tradition. Sadly, they're also about a bazillion calories. :( Between the Cinnabun, Starbucks, Godiva and the Haagen-Daz, I was feeling very put out over this Making Healthy Dietary Choices thing.
(kicks the carpet) I think I'll put Holy Water in the flask and put it in the doorwell of my car along with the bag of salt. That's suitably geeky enough to make up for my random surge of girlie, right?
ETA an LJ cut because I didn't realize this was so long! Whoops!
