CAP! YAY CAP!
My thoughts on Cap: Reborn, limited to one thought per page for maximum WTF factor. I picked my thoughts (of which there were many) for maximum random and confusion. If you know what's going on, you've probably already read it. :D
This does not mean there's no spoilers.
Cover art: Pink. Very pink. Also incredibly gay. I kind of wish I'd gotten the crotch monster one instead.
Back cover: Lots and lots of fish. And a car? I... still don't think I get this ad. O.o
Inner cover: o-O I don't get this ad either. Square cars are... what? Cool? Not round? IDK.
Page 1: :o Dude, I kind of want the whole A-with-wings thing as a tattoo. It'd be a little too geeky, though. Even for me.
Page 2: This looks suspiciously like WWII. Why are we in WWII?
Page 3: MORE FOCUS ON THE FLAGPOLE PLZ
Page 4: Waitwaitwait a second! I DON'T WANT TO SEE THIS! I've been avoiding seeing this! MOMMY. (hides eyes)
Page 5: Ohaithar Wolverine. Wow, are you random for a milk ad or what? Kind of adorable with the milk mustache though.
Page 6: (peeks out from between her fingers) WTF with the randomly placed Bucky shot?
Page 7: NOOOOOOOOOOES DO NOT WANT! DO NOT WANT!!!!!
Page 8: Oh, back to Bucky. I think I'm confused now.
Page 9: WAIT. WTF, the narrator is having a conversation? WHO ARE RED AND GREEN?
Page 10: Ah, there's the flagpole. Or maybe that's just the lighting.
Page 11: Why is there a giant Cap-bot in the background?
Page 12: I'm confused again. First we were— and now we're— but what about... There are some flow issues here.
Page 13: Wow, lots of close-ups...
Page 14: How much trouble am I going to be in if I say I'm not really liking the art? Manga is definitely prettier.
Page 15: Nazi robots. Arguably a zombie Nazi robot. Is it a pirate ninja as well?
Page 16: Hey, I think this explains the crotch monster!
Page 17: Or someone just likes drawing pretty girls in restraints?
Page 18: The wha? Isn't that a math term?
Page 19: FURY! Now there's a man who rocks the scruffy cross-hatched close ups.
Page 20: o-O Transformers fandom is going to love that.
Page 21: 33 MPG IS NOT AWESOME MILEAGE, NOR IS IT NEW TECH. ALSO, SILENT THUNDER WTF?!
Page 22: Cool! Doom signs his tech. Like a painting. Are there happy little trees too?
Page 23: Didn't I just see a Will Farrell movie with that phlebotinum?
Page 24: ohshit. ._.
Page 25: Now that is better! More flagpole! Looking kind of bunched up though, Cap.
Page 26: I'm sorry, but Kevim Smith will always be my Ares.
Page 27: I'm going with Bucky on this one.
Page 28: What is this? Primary and secondary colors month? Pink cover, blue, red, yellow, green...
Page 29: HOLY SHIT. Am I right am I right amiright?! (turns page!)
Page 30: I WAS RIGHT HOLY FUCKING SHIT.
Page 31: D: Steeeeeeeeeeeeeve....
Page 32: MARVEL YOU STOP THIS. YOU STOP THIS RIGHT NOW.
Page 33: :o Lookin' kinda hot thar, Bucky. You taking the Boy Wonder courses in Superheroing?
Page 34: ANOTHER ROCKED CLOSE UP!
Page 35 & on: In retrospect, I completely missed that this was a preview. Thus, much confusion at first.
Final thoughts: Either this is going to surprise the hell out of me or it's going to be the most epic ass-pull in comic history, and comics has a long, glorious history of ass-pulls. If they use this the way Ithink hope they're going to use this, I will be the happiest person ever and yet I will still deride it as a cheap way to rescue a plot that got away from them.
I can't wait to see the fanfic that comes out of this. :D
